In the fall of 2001, Tyronne Watkins, Kenny Ross, Ron Rafter, Dennis Carter, & Woody Woodworth came together at a small church in Centreville, MD. After a few months of fellowship and jammin', "WhirlWind" was born.
Starting from this core group of four musicians & one singer, Rodney Miles, his brother Dave Miles, and Christina Robinson were added, and Whirlwind was "born again."
Later, Irenda Belt, and more recent, Dan Sterling & Pam Delosier have joined the group bringing a whole new diversity of sound to Whirlwind.
Over time WhirlWind has been blessed with other group members that have contributed so much and have now moved on in other ministry: Dennis Carter, Leslie Banks, Sandy Hawkins, and Kathy Rosso.
Whirlwind has a unique sound that we like to call "Motown Gospel". WhirlWind is taking God's message into the streets in a variety of other styles to include, Black Gospel, Blues, Rock, R&B, and Country.
Whirlwind's mission is:
- To bring glory and honor to the Lord, Jesus Christ.
- To bring unity and encouragement to the body of Christ.
- To continue taking the gospel of Jesus Christ to the people as an evangelistic outreach ministry of the Fish Locker Café, a christian coffeehouse ministry.
