How was I born on an island? Well...
With mixed emotions broiling-she left two daughters behind. It was just days before families would gather together to laugh, eat, open presents and celebrate Christmas. Protests and dead bodies in U.S. uniforms blanketed the nightly news. Christmas would be different this year. Twisting and squirming in her last trimester a pregnant young mom endured an uncomfortable flight across the Pacific Ocean. Alone, she ached for a partner. Her husband was on the other side of the globe-with the Merchant Marines. The year was 1967. Wrought with typical birthing fears, the young lady would endure the worst of pain only to sign her child to another's control. The papers would soon allow control by strangers over her own flesh and blood. Her child. Not hers any longer. Her voice would never be heard in the rearing of this child. She would give away the miracle of life. Why?
My birthmother gave me life, and a family. Just not her own. A second generation American, my birth mom knew tough love. She gave me life. Abortion was a legal option- one that allowed no weight gain nor stares and gossip. God's grace gave me a beautiful family and Jim and Nancy- my real parents- raised me and my adopted brother. We moved all over our country and abroad. Wow, I am twice loved and adopted! Once in heaven and once on earth!
I believe my life is called for God's purposes and that this writing will offer hope to many single women who have experienced domestic violence. God has led me through many situations and has loved me and led me to His victory. He is my warrior. Peace and mercy are attainable through his loving grace. I am graced by Jesus!
A contributor to PENNED FROM THE HEART-my two devotionals are themed on God's love and provision. I trust the LORD in all my endeavors and commit my way to Him. I praise Him for the work in advance. I thank and praise Him also for the hearts I meet along the way! God Bless all of you!
