There are so many influences in my writing that I couldn't begin to mention them all. I have always been an avid reader. I love pretty much any fiction genre that is well-written and my writing reflects that. If I had to pick a favorite genre, for reading it would be historical fiction, and for writing it would be any time period of based-on-true-stories.

I like to think I have a style all my own! ;-) I write such a diversity of styles that it would be impossible to narrow it down, but I have become known for coming at a story from a unique angle.

Struggle Creek (2007)
MYSTERY...
Generations ago, a Civil War skirmish was fought on the banks of Struggle Creek. Now, a different battle has come to the small Tennessee town, and a community's peace is shattered by fear.
SECRETS...
The once trusting, close-knit community is unraveling. Could one of them be behind the deadly secret in the woods?
Could one of them be a killer?
FAITH...
Against the backdrop of fear and mistrust, the people of Struggle Creek are faced with a decision. Will they choose to trust in God and each other? Or will their bitterness and fear rob them of their innocence forever?
Peculiar People was founded in 2005 by Amy Michelle Wiley. PeP is an international Christian organization that creates unique fiction through group writing projects. Authors from all over the world work together to write one-of-a-kind books that offer clean, Christian entertainment and spread the love of God. www.peculiarpeoplebooks.com

The Lime-Green Castle (2007)
I can still hear the sounds of that day; the phone ringing, the murmur of my mother's voice answering. The footsteps as she walked toward me are so clear that even now I almost turn to look behind me. They are the sound of coming uncertainty, of pain so deep it still twinges.
Mom sat beside me on the wooden porch steps. Her face was grey, twisting in a way I'd never seen. Silence stretched out until it touched the edge of infinity.
The words that finally came out of her mouth shattered my childhood. "Mark," she'd whispered, "your brother's been kidnapped."
"Lime-Green Castles" will appear in a soon-to-be-published FaithWriter's "Writing Genres" anthology. This story is available for reprint. You can read the full story at the link below.

This charming Biblical fiction story illustrates the love God has for the least of us--even a lowly servant and an unbroken ass. Jesus's triumphal entry is shown in a new light, through the eyes of the donkey's best friend--a young servant girl.
This story was showcased on the front page of FaithWriters, and will appear in an future FW anthology. It is available for reprint, and can be read at the link below.

I live in the Pacific Northwest and have been writing all my life. I grew up in a homeschooled Christian family and am a born-again Evangelical Christian. Currently, I'm in an intensive college training program to become a sign language interpreter. It is incredibly difficult and time consuming, but I love it! I can't wait to see what God does with this training.
I started writing before I was old enough to pen the words, back when Mom was kind enough to transcribe for me. The last two years I've gotten more serious about it, and as a result, I have had short stories published dozens of times in various book anthologies and internet magazines. I love writing every type of fiction genre from Biblical fiction to science fiction. My goal is for my writing to bring people to deeper understanding of the personal love and care God has for each of us.
I am an active member of FaithWriters and participate regularly in their weekly writing challenge, on the message boards, and as a writing mentor to beginning writers. I am also one of the coordinators for the Annual FaithWriter Writing Conference.
I am the founder and director of Peculiar People--an organization that creates unique Christian fiction through group writing projects. PeP's first novel has just been published through Xulon Press! Struggle Creek is a cozy mystery written by twenty-seven different authors.
Let's see...other interesting things about me. Apparently I'm quite funny. Or so I get told nearly every day. I have yet to see what's so funny about me, but I'll take their word for it. ;-) I myself am easily amused, so hey, I'm more than happy to be the day's amusement for others just by being me!

Today I only got to spend a half a day in the classroom at the Deaf camp, because I had a pain management class in the morning. I was needing it pretty badly at that point, too, after yesterday. I had just as much fun in the 1st and 2nd grade room to...

A wave slips around my toes, the kiss of cold foam stirring the sand, revealing a glint of pearly pink. I bend and pick up the shell, just a fragment, the swirled design cut short by ragged edges. It's been crushed by the waves, ground by the sand, y...
