General Interests
I absolutely love spending time with my dear, sweet hubby of 32 years, and my daughters, their hubbies, and my TWO sweet grandboys! And, guess what! Another grandbaby is on the way (late June), AND it's A GIRL!!! Our lives are full to overflowing. I love to read, write, sing, hang out with friends, go to movies, eat at cool restaurants, SHOP-TIL-I-DROP, and laugh at the foolish things I do. It goes without saying that I love my Lord, and I just get a charge out of watching the wonderful ways He works in my life.
Music
Kenny G, Michael Buble, Jim Brickman, soothing Celtic, some jazz, like the wonderful old tunes of Ella Fitzgerald. I also love Josh Grobin's melodic voice, new worship tunes and old classic hymns done well. I really love many different styles of music. I even enjoy country--if it's not too "twangy".
Books
Very hard to pin down any all-time favorites. Oops. Bible. Let's see, after that. I loved Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers, and for something way off the wall, A Girl Named Zippy. Absolutely hilarious writing. Way way back, I loved Christy, A Man Called Peter, The Christian's Secret of a Happy Life. All impacting books. Today's authors are so, so good, and I've read so much that my mind boggles if I try to choose a favorite.
Movies/TV
Big time American Idol Fan! Other shows mostly fall by the wayside after AI, and I'd have to say I watch absolutely nothing else on a regular basis. Oh, does Price is Right count? I HAVE to say, though, that Drew Carey does NOT cut it as the host. UGH! Who gave Bob Barker the right to retire at 83? and how could I forget America's Funniest Videos?! I love that show 'cause I almost always LAUGH OUT LOUD!

After divorcing her abusive husband, single mother, Callie May, is still nursing the scars of a painful past. The last thing she needs in her life is another man, so she's less than thrilled when a handsome but brooding stranger moves into the apartment across the hall.

Callie mistrusts men, and the angry Dan often gives her good reason. Both are weighed down by the scars and disappointment in their pasts. When Callie's ex-husband shows up to wreak more havoc in her life, Dan finds himself coming to her defense, and facing his own demons in the process. Will Dan and Callie be able to get past their baggage and give love another chance? Can they come to see life's tragedies as part of God's perfect plan? And most important, will they allow the power of God to change their hearts and mend their hurts?

About Sharlene MacLaren, AUTHOR

Hello, precious friends! Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by my Shoutlife page. Go over to my other website if you get a chance by clicking HERE! OR...if you like, check out my blog at Blogspot.com by clicking HERE!

I'm a retired schoolteacher who, after 31 years, decided to say, "Bye-bye, Students!" and "Hello, Writing World!"

It's been an interesting, exciting, challenging, heart-wrenching, and inspiring adventure to say the least. One thing I know--God dropped a seed of passion for writing in my heart back in the summer of 2000, and He's been growing it ever since. Who else in her right mind would jump out of bed in the middle of the night just to run to the computer and finish a scene that all of a sudden comes together in her head?

I have two wonderful daughters and two handsome sons-in-law, but the joys of my life (besides my sweet, darling husband, Cecil) are my adorable grandchildren, Dylan, born March 21, 2006, Gavin, born March 3, 2008, and Alexis (Lexi), born July 1, 2008!!! Needless to say, Cecil and I are having the time of our lives with these precious gifts. Check out my photos to see some family pics.

MAY GOD BLESS AND FILL YOU WITH UNENDING HOPE AND JOY!

DON'T WE SERVE A GENEROUS GOD?

I LOVE YOU ALL!
SHAR

How to Run From God...   1/04/2009 - 4:30 PM
Notice who wrote the book. I think Jonah would know if anyone would why it's never wise to run from God. Besides, the benefits and blessings of living a life for Christ make running from Him plain silly! P.S. I love the looks on the monks' ... (login or sign up to read more)

Okay, sorry if any of these offend. That is not my intention. I think they are funny, but maybe that's 'cause I'm a little weird. Actually, a LOT weird. Read on... 1. Sometimes, when I look at my children, I say to myself, 'Lillian, you should... (login or sign up to read more)

HERE COMES A DUMB ONE...or is it?   1/02/2009 - 9:30 PM
Okay, yeah, it's pretty corny, but if you give the cartoon a second to sink it, it starts to take on actual meaning. How do you interpret it? The way I see it is: God often gives us a message or a special 'word', but we miss it entirely because... (login or sign up to read more)

Aww, adorable picture with the granddaughter! I noticed this year that for all the precious Christmas dresses for girls, there are next to no cute outfits for baby boys. What's up with that? Poor Rowyn had to wear a sweatshirt while Xoe was decked out in green velvet . . .

Anyway, hope you 2009's off to a rockin' start!
Cyril Varghese on 1/06/09 - 2:48 AM
I happened to watch Keith Green's testimony last night and I just couldn't get enough of his passion and music for the Lord. I just had to share it with you.

I pray it blesses you, as much as it blessed millions of others and me!

I hope all is well with you and your loved ones. I pray you had a blessed Christmas and a wonderful New Year ahead of you, in Christ Jesus' precious name

Remain blessed in Christ Jesus,

Cyril

I don't know where the pictures are! It's driving me crazy to have posted them and then not have them show up. I know SL says it can take up to 24 hours to get them approved, so I figure that's what's going on. That would mean they should be available by tonight. (If they work on weekends!!) I appreciate that you keep checking, and I'm sure you'll let me know when they show up.

Speaking of pictures, the one of you and your grandbaby is just delicious!!
Sherrie Ashcraft on 1/03/09 - 11:05 PM
Hey, I think we figured it out. I just uploaded the pics this afternoon, and it can take up to 24 hours for them to be verified. So they show up on my computer, but no one else can see them yet. I guess they're in verify limbo!

Sherrie Ashcraft on 1/03/09 - 10:59 PM
This is crazy!! They show up just fine on my computer, right under my profile. But you're right--I just went upstairs and checked on Christina's laptop and nothing is showing up. AAKKKK!! I'll have to see what my husband can figure out. I'll keep trying!!
Glenda K on 1/03/09 - 9:33 PM

Joel is my friend's son in law going thru really rough times with health. I wrote a blog and am praying that it appears soon.. the one I wrote for prayer when Loretta was about to be homeless never appeared. Thankfully hers that I talked her into writing appeared. Any way all prayer is so appreciated. I'll set timer for my first prayer time. I've been praying for him since the beginning but it is very important to this family to have this prayer/fasting 2 day event. Thanks
Hugs
