Deadlock (A John Hutchinson Novel) (2009)
The violent duel between idealistic journalist John Hutchinson and insane, megalomaniacal military industrialist Brendan Page continues in Liparulo's formulaic sequel to 2007's Deadfall.

During their previous clash, Hutch killed Brendan's son Declan, who had used a laser cannon to terrorize a small town in Saskatchewan. Unable to convince the authorities in the U.S. and Canada that Brendan was behind the attack, Hutch has recommitted himself to getting the goods on his mortal enemy. When Brendan's forces abduct Hutch's young son, Logan, from Hutch's Colorado home, the reporter must battle hordes of foes in an attempt to rescue Logan. Fans of James Bond movies may appreciate the bad guy's grandiose schemes and the hero's many hairbreadth escapes, but readers who want more than clichés in their action fiction will have to look elsewhere. House of Dark Shadows (Dreamhouse Kings #1) (2008)
Dream house . . . or bad dream?

When the Kings move from L.A. to a secluded small town, fifteen-year-old Xander is beyond disappointed. He and his friends loved to create amateur films . . . but the tiny town of Pinedale is the last place a movie buff and future filmmaker wants to land.

But he, David, and Toria are captivated by the many rooms in the old Victorian fixer-upper they moved into--as well as the heavy woods surrounding the house.

They soon discover there's something odd about the house. Sounds come from the wrong directions. Prints of giant, bare feet appear in the dust. And when David tries to hide in the linen closet, he winds up in locker 119 at his new school.

Then the really weird stuff kicks in: they find a hidden hallway with portals leading off to far-off places--in long-ago times. Xander is starting to wonder if this kind of travel is a teen's dream come true . . . or his worst nightmare.

Watcher in the Woods (Dreamhouse Kings #2) (2008)
It's not just the house that's keeping secrets.

Pretending everything's all right is harder than it sounds. But the Kings know that even if they told the truth about the bizarre things happening in their house, no one would believe them. They're hyper-focused on rescuing their lost family member before anyone finds out what's going on.

But when a stranger shows up to take their house, their options start dwindling fast. Why would he be so interested in a run-down old place? And what secret is he hiding--just as he hides the scars that crisscross his body?

The mystery gets stranger with each passing day. Will the Kings be able to find a way to harness the house's secrets and discover who is watching their every move before another gets snatched into an unknown world?

Deadfall (2007)
"Deadfall is inventive, suspenseful, and highly entertaining. An engrossing and imaginative tale that sticks in your brain and makes you wonder about its real possibilities. Robert Liparulo is a storyteller, pure and simple."
-Steve Berry, New York Times bestselling author of The Alexandria Link and The Venetian
Betrayal

Deep in the isolated Northwest Territories, four friends are on the trip of a lifetime. Dropped by helicopter into the remote Canadian wilderness, Hutch, Terry, Phil and David are looking to escape the events of a tumultuous year - a bitter divorce, bankruptcy, depression and job loss - for two weeks of hunting, fishing and camping.

Armed only with a bow and arrow and the basics for survival, they've chosen a place far from civilization, a retreat from their turbulent lives. But they quickly discover that another group has targeted the remote region and the secluded hamlet of Fiddler Falls for a more menacing purpose: to field-test the ultimate weapon.

With more than a week before the helicopter rendezvous and no satellite phone, Hutch, a skilled bow-hunter and outdoor-survivalist, must help his friends elude their seemingly inescapable foes, as well as decide whether to run for their lives?or risk everything to help the townspeople who are being held hostage and terrorized.

Deadfall is a fast-paced action-adventure thriller appealing to the fans of such authors as David Morrell and Tess Gerritsen. In the parlance of Hollywood, Deadfall is Deliverance meets Rambo, Die Hard meets The Edge. As author Thomas Perry says, Deadfall deserves the name thriller.

Germ (2006)
Imagine a virus that spreads as a common cold, until it finds a DNA strand that matches the one encoded within it?until it finds the one person it's looking for. Then it turns into an especially virulent form of Ebola. No one is safe. If you breathe, it will find you. To prove it, the germ's creator targets ten thousand victims: politicians, housewives, children. Only three people can possibly stop it?if they survive long enough.

Welcome to my new thriller, GERM. If you like your suspense stories ramped up to breakneck speed, with a real-life biological threat, relatable characters and wicked bad guys, give this one a try. Bestselling author Douglas Preston (Tyrannosaur Canyon, The Book of the Dead) calls it "a compulsive read... I loved it!"
