"Would you believe it - it's Christmas Rock Night again. Yes, the annual 2-night event that rocks the small village of Ennepetal, Germany every year. The running order this year seemed a little more diverse than the last few, which added to a variety of tones and colors - each worthy of further investigation.

Saturday night was one most people will never forget, and was completely sold out, for the first time in CRN history. People travelled from all over the globe for this Saturday night, many of them just to catch a glimpse of Rob Rock playing his first-ever European show. Having heard nothing on the new album but rave reviews, I had been anticipating this gig like a child on Christmas Eve.

Rob was all I expected him to be, with great catchy tunes and his incredible voice completely in top-notch form. The show was stolen from him, however, by his talented guitarist Rick Renstrom. Some people would say he is disabled, others would say he is incredibly blessed. Having only three fingers on each hand and shortened arms, he is a major shredder. Rick would give Chris Impelliteri a run for his money, and it was inspiring to see him play. Rob and band had the crowd rocking right from the word go. The new material was easily accessible and these guys, although newly formed for this one-off show, are seasoned musos and gelled nicely."

"I was very excited to see Rob Rock. But right at the beginning my jaw was about to drop when I saw there was a guitar player on stage who was disabled on both hands. But this didn't limit Rick Renstrom while playing his guitar. On the contrary, with a lot of energy he thrust unbelievable leads into the audience, as it would seem to be so easy......"



At the age of fifteen, after seeing Yngwie Malmsteen on a TV special, Rick decided to start playing guitar. By the time he was sixteen, he was attending the University of Akron majoring in music, playing with his band Shattered Innocence 3-4 nights a week, and still in high school. Rick studied classical guitar, jazz guitar, theory, composition and overall musicianship.

Rick was searching for a vocalist to work with. He remembered Rob playing in Orlando and to his surprise Rob still lived in Orlando. Rick emailed Rob and soon after, they hooked up. Rob gave him a copy of "Rage of Creation" and learned it immediately. Soon after, auditioned and the rest is history.

Rick's past endeavor's included guitar duties for Rob Rocks Rage Of Creation band and a studio musician for several bands.

Rick won the "Best Lead Guitarist" at the 1996 CFMA Awards, 1998 won the M.A.R.S. Guitar challenge and 2001 recieved "Best Metal Guitarist" at the Orlando Metal Awards.

With the advent of MP3 technology, Rick converted his music to MP3's and has received a huge success on the worldwide MP3.com. Ricks song Opus Lix went to Number 1 on 6/27/2000 and held on to the spot for over 3 weeks and remained in the top 10 for over 3 months and "Symphony 40" reached as high as Number 2 with over 70, 000 downloads to his credit.

In 2002, Rick signed with Mascot Records for all of Europe. Rick has also been featured on The Guitar Odyssey: Tribute to Yngwie Malmsteen (GNW Records and JVC/Victor), Massacre recording artist's Powergod "Bleed For The God's" metal tribute and Lion Musics Warmth in the Wilderness: A Tribute to Jason Becker.

Rick has released a solo album, "Until the Bitter End" in Europe through Mascot Records and in the U.S. with Thrash Corner.

Rick was also guitarist and writer on Leash Law's "Dogface" album release worldwide through Black Lotus Records.



To date, Rick has recorded on 9 total albums and has collectively played to over 100, 000 fans worldwide.
