Rebekah Robinson is an Australian singer/songwriter. Born into a Christian family in New Zealand, she moved to Australia in 1990 and settled at what is now Brisbane City Church. "I've been writing songs since I was 15," she says, "though it was all pretty much dreck back then!" In 1997 Rebekah completed a Certificate of Christian Ministry at Strikeforce Ministry Training Institute. Currently she works as a school chaplain for SU Queensland.
Rebekah's family spent time on the mission field, so from the age of 7 she knew that life was about loving and serving God - and assisting others to love and serve Him. If this is beginning to sound like a charmed life, look again. "No one can deny that I'm enormously blessed to have a Christian heritage," Rebekah says, "but that isn't to say that I haven't known pain or sorrow as God's dealt with things in my heart and taken me through hard experiences. It's taken me a surprisingly long time to come to a place where I know He wants me for me. I had a utilitarian outlook for so long
I had no idea I was His princess. Finding out how He really feels about me has changed everything."
These are some of the concepts written into the ten songs on Rebekah's debut album, "Day In The Sun" (Aisle 6 Records, 2006, produced by Scott Mullane & Tim Moorton). A blend of pop and rock, the album soars with guitars and hope. "I had a lot of talented friends and family help me on this project - not to mention my husband's backing - and still more helping me out with live performances. The term 'solo artist' is a misnomer!"
