The Christmas Tree That Didn't Get Picked (2007)
God creates everything for a very special purpose, even Christmas trees. This is the story of two Christmas trees that are very good friends. The story is about friendship, truthfulness, love and growing; it's about being accepted for who you are. These two are very special tree's that have grown together side by side for years and now it's their turn to be picked by that very special family. Their greatest desire is to share Christmas with a family, a family they could call their own; it's their purpose here on earth. They believe this is why God created them. They soon learn that not everything happens the way we want them to. They also learn that everything in this life is in Gods hands and that sometimes our plans are not what God has in mind for us.
My name is Lisa Lynn Ivey. I was born right here in California. I was raised in a Christian home with four older sisters. I attended elementary school and high school there and completed all my education with a Junior College and a College for Dental assisting. I currently work full time as an RDA, Registered Dental Assistant. I have worked in the Dental field for approximately 15 years.
I currently live in California with my husband, Ezra and three children. We travel when we can and enjoy getting away to visit the mountains and the ocean. Either way is about the same distance , two to four hours away from where we live. I attend a church here close to my home with which we all are actively involved in. I am a member of the choir there as well as a Sunday School Teacher. I also involve myself as I can, with different ministries in the church, especially the drama department and the youth department.
Some of my hobbies are gardening, cooking, and writing. I am an aspiring artist as well, I paint in oils and acrylics and am interested in what ever type of medium I can get my hands on to express myself on canvas. I paint landscapes and people mostly. I have been blessed recently with the sale of my first painting, a portrait for an elementary school founder. The painting is now hanging in the front office of an elementary school in here in California.
I love every season of the year. Each season brings with it new colors and changing sceneries. No matter what time of year it is there are always beautiful sunrises and sunsets. I look at everything as though I were looking at a canvas. God's canvas. We can only imagine what heaven will be like.
I enjoyed writing in high school and won some competitions as well. I never gave it up as I continued all my life writing short stories and some poetry. I think back now and I am inclined to say I just got sidetracked by other interests and raising my children.
I wrote this book after a comment made by my daughter one year about the Christmas tree's that were left on the lot, the day after Christmas. She was genuinely upset for them that they didn't get picked. She wanted to know why God made them if they weren't going to get picked. I explained to her that God creates everything for a purpose and that those tree's will get used for something. Even if it's to keep someone warm. When we got home that evening I started my story. Throughout the writing of this book I have used idea's she has given me.I never really thought seriously of having anything published until my husband started to encourage me to do so.
My book was published in November 2007. I wanted to share what it means to understand God's purpose and his plan for our lives as well as give another look at the joys of Christmas. I think people get too caught up in the gift giving to truly remember what Christmas is really all about. God sent his son for a reason. My first book tell what that is. It's important for our children to grow up knowing this.
I hope you enjoy.
