About Rev. Vicky Miller Edwards
My name is Vicky Miller Edwards and I love the Lord with all of my heart. He is on my mind 24/7. I wake up singing His praises and fall asleep worshipping His holy name. I know I was born to serve the Lord.

Even though I was too young to remember, I'm told that I got my first taste of singing in public when I was around 3 or 4 years old. The Reverend E. E. Rhoades was a Holy Ghost filled Church of God preacher who had a radio show back in the early 60's. He and his wife loved children though they never had any of their own. My Mom, my older sister Cindy, and I were regular musical guests on his weekly radio show. I can still hear Brother Rhoades telling me how "sweet" I was standing on a chair in the studio at such a young age and singing my heart out. I don't remember those moments but I can envision myself loving the Lord passionately even as a 3 year old. From that moment on, I have sung about Jesus Christ and His love to anyone who would listen.

My mom came from a family who was blessed with an abundance of musical talent. They all loved the Lord and church music was their life. It became my life as well. I do remember as a young child that my grandparents, my aunts and uncles, and my parents all lived within a block or two from each other. Each home had a piano and/or organ in it and we would take turns every weekend going to each others homes to sing around the piano/organ. You could hear us singing the songs of the Gaither Trio, Lanny Wolfe Trio, Jimmy Swaggart, The Froud Trio (they were our favorite), The Churchmen, and many others. We had the "red back" Church Hymnal memorized. My Aunt Eleanor was the pianist at our pentecostal church (Church of God) and I was facinated with her style of playing. She couldn't read a note but she made that piano "talk". Many of my relatives could play the piano, and if they played the piano, they also played the organ. Let's see,...Aunt Eleanor, Aunt Linda, Grandma Drowns, Grandpa Drowns, my mom,.....oh yeah,...ME! I started playing piano when I was 5 years old. I loved it so much that during our church services I would sit on the piano bench with my aunt, the whole time totally engroced in the music. By the time I was 9 years old, I was the piano player for the Thursday night YPE services (Young People's Endeavor). I have never stopped playing for church since.

My mom, my two sisters and I were regular special singers at our church and eventually we were asked to travel with the Gospel Tones. I wasn't old enough to drive yet but that was ok. Who needed a car when you could travel on a bus to church? We ministered in song on Sunday evenings with the Gospel Tones for a few years. I was a music geek in high school. If the class had anything at all to do with vocal or instrumental music, then I was in it. I'm surprized I had enough NON-fine arts credits to graduate! I even took a liking to being in the all-schools plays (they were MUSICALS!).

To make a very long story short, I graduated from Northwest Bible College in Minot, North Dakota with a Bachelor of Science degree in Music and after graduation, I was asked to stay on as a member of the music faculty. It was there that I travelled with several campus choirs and ensembles as well as my own southern gospel group, REBORN. We toured the US every break that we had from classes. Skip ahead many years, and now I am a licensed Minister of Music with the Church of God (Cleveland, TN), a wife to Bill for over 20 years now and a mother to four teenagers (Nathan and Nicholas are 19 yr old twins, James is 18, and Hillary is 16). God has continued to bless our family with yet another generation of talented musicians. All four of our children are involved in choir and band. I hope that they will use their God-given talent to win souls for the kingdom of God. I am on the worship team at Riverside Church in St. Joseph, MO doing vocals/keyboard (www.riversidechurch.us). I have an overwhelming desire to take my music outside the walls of the church and out into the harvest fields where I can sing and preach the message of Christ crucified, and risen again to save a lost & dying world.
