Some of my general interests include: Writing - been doing that since I was a little girl.
I collect cookbooks and then cook and bake for my family.
(I think they quite enjoy my hobby,
too) My family's favorites include homemade breads,
cinnamon rolls,
cream puffs and roast beef dinners with all the trimmings.
I really,
REALLY like cooking for LARGE groups,
so my husband and I have been known to entertain quite a bit.
Currently,
I'm helping with meals-for-missions before our mid-week service.
Whatever your talent,
use it for the Lord!
I love antiques,
decorating our home and Christmas,
especially the true meaning! Sketching used to be one of my favorite things to do,
but have been told with this gift it's either use it or lose it.
and I think I lost it.
Other favorite things include: winter,
snow and I'm crazy about mooses.

Movies: You've Got Mail,
Sleepless in Seattle,
While You Were Sleeping,
Somewhere in Time,
Frequency,
Fried Green Tomatoes,
Steel Magnolias,
Never Been Kissed,
Maid in Manhattan,
Wedding Planner,
the Fugitive,
Peggy Sue Got Married,
the Slipper and the Rose,
(Richard Chamberlain was such a hunk in that.
) classic musicals (ie Meet Me in St.
Louis),
old romantic movies from the 1940s Oh,
and of course that sweet holiday flick,
ELF.
TV: old classics like Dick Van Dyke and Andy Griffith (only with Barney - not so much the newer ones).
Then there's Murder She Wrote,
Columbo,
The Waltons,
Touched By an Angel and 7th Heaven,
the Jeffersons - stuff like that.
Used to love Hart to Hart and McMillan and Wife - sure wish those reruns were on.
I enjoy most of the movies on Hallmark and some on Lifetime.
I like the History channel,
TLC,
National Geographic and travel channel,
too.
Current favorites include most things on HGTV (especially house hunters!) and Food Network.
While getting ready for church on Sunday mornings I always watch James Merrit,
Charles Stanley,
David Jeremiah and yes,
even Joel Osteen.
(okay,
not so much for his 'name it and claim it' theology,
but he's still pretty motivational.

YIPPEEE - our mystery, Reflections of a Stranger, is scheduled for release the end of August!

I became a Christian at the ripe old age of 5 and feel blessed to have been raised in a Christ-centered home. Through the years, I often rededicated my life as I grew spiritually. It's important not to remain a baby Christian.
My husband, Bill, and I have been married since 1973. We have 3 beautiful grown-up daughters and 5 perfect grandchildren (ages 2,11,12,14,16)
Currently, we're busy raising an overly spunky, 140+ pound, 7 year old red lab named Brinkley. We rescued him from the shelter on the morning he was going down. The other 4-legged member in our family is a pretty Maine Coon old lady cat named Maggie.
I'm a PK - or more accurately, Parsonage Survivor. I lived in 7 states growing up - California, Illinois, Minnesota, Montana, Pennsylvania (albeit briefly), Michigan and finally put down roots in Indiana at age 14...and have been a Hoosier ever since.
A close friend and I worked 11 years as local leaders of senior adults in three churches and then 5 years as district directors for our denomination in northern Indiana. Following that, I put in an additional 2 years on the district board as "technical adviser" (that sounds boring - how about the 'Grand Pooh-bah' lol) to the replacements. Both the local and district directorships were fantastic experiences and ones that we will always cherish.
During this time the two of us conducted several workshops for leaders of senior groups. In our opinion, we never outgrow the need for lots of fun and laughter. We were also guest speakers for both ladies groups and senior groups at other churches.
I've written devotionals and some magazine articles.
Deb and I wrote a mystery which is now available from the publisher Pelicanbookgroup.com, Booknook or Amazon.
Reflections of a Stranger
Cora and her husband, PGA golf pro Steady Eddie Timms, live in a safe gated community, so when Cora witnesses a murder, she's shocked and frightened. But without a body, murder weapon, or evidence of a crime, Cora's sanity is called into question-especially when it comes to light that Cora's not been dealing well with the stress and grief of losing a daughter, and her memory of late hasn't been all it should be. Determined to prove her sanity, Cora bursts into a flurry of danger and unanswered questions as she sets out to find evidence of foul play. With the help of a bumbling security guard, a loyal best friend, and a neighbor's yappy dog, pieces finally fall into place. By all appearance, the mystery is solved...until Cora is kidnapped and implicated in a case of hidden identity and an old embezzlement scheme. It will take more than the national attention garnered from Steady Eddie's status to clear Cora's name, rescue her from the kidnappers, and help find her way back to the peace and sanity found only in God's loving arms.
My Heroes: Our men and women in the military. I was quite fond of Ronald Reagan. (I was a long distance telephone operator and placed a call to Reagan while he was still governor of California. I was asked to call him Ronnie-Boy...and guess what - I did!)

Every year on Easter, a local businessman invited all area pastors and their families to a dinner at the nicest steak house in town. It wasn't the chopped steak platter, either. Everyone got the most expensive dinner. On Dad's preacher salary, going ...

December 6, 1966. Four-thirty in the afternoon. That date and time is forever etched in my brain. My faithful and loving beagle, Mike, had been poisoned and died in my arms. I was 14 and mourned the loss of my beloved pet.
A year passed and being ...

Cindy and the Toy Coffee Pot...or Grounds for a Whoopin'
Mom was one sick lady that summer of 1965. Not only did she have a mild heart-attack, she also had to have her gall bladder removed.
She was in the hospital a week or so, but then, begge...

We had a joyous Easter weekend. We start out with a quiet Good Friday, just the immediate family. Although I don't believe in the need for a "meatless" meal, we do that tradition to remember our relatives who have passed on who were in that tradtion. The quiet time is something we add to the meatless meal and praying at the table about the significance of what we commemorate. Our Easter service was indeed joyous.
Glad you had a blessed holiday.
