Interact with Carl Teichrib
|
|
Playing with my children and doing things with my wife.
Reading.
Travel - I can't think of a place I don't want to go.
Riding sport-bikes, and motorcycles in general.
Paintball (I'm the old man on the team, but that's ok).
Downhill skiing.
Mushroom hunting - the eating kind!
Walking and spending time in the bush (I use to trap as a teenager).
Fellowshipping with friends; lots of laughter and serious talks.
Looking for arrowheads, fossils, and artefacts.
Woodworking.
Cooking and eating seafood.
The ocean! Man, I love the ocean - scares me to pieces, but the draw is irresistible.
Back-road cruising and off-road exploring with ATVs, small cars, old pickup trucks - whatever runs.
Canoeing, and almost anything you can do in a small river or creek!
Helping my dad on the farm - alas, 2007 was his last year farming.
Reading, reading, and more reading: In a hammock, in a chair, in the grass - I don't care, as long as there's a stack of books close by.
Teaching, speaking, writing: thinking.
Living.

The Essence:
A soul, destined at birth to wrath, yet undeservedly ransomed.
Family Basics:
Married to his best friend. "Who else would I marry?"
Carl, Leanne, and their two children live in rural Manitoba.
Mottos:
There are a few mottos that seem to capture certain elements of the Teichrib household.
- "You were born an original, don't die a copy."
- "Always ride fast and take chances."
- "If you're not having fun, fake it." (a wonderful saying gleaned from doing long road trips with friends from Indiana).
- "Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Though it costs you all you have, get understanding." - Proverbs 4:7
- "...here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is the whole duty of man." - Ecclesiastes 12:13.
The Task:
Carl's calling as a researcher, writer, and communicator is focused around a big picture scenario - to document and communicate the rise and impact of globalization, both in its parts and as a whole.
Why? Because globalization is transforming every facet of life, from cultural perceptions to your wallet, from church trends to national decisions, from the way you view the world to how the world sees you; and too few Christians understand the size and scope of this worldview tsunami, nor the consequences of its force.
The Researcher:
At the heart of this undertaking is his personal library, containing more than 5000 technical and historical volumes, reams of source documents, and hundreds of hours of audio archives. While this unique collection serves as his hub, other research components come into play, including his involvement at numerous global governance events.
This second aspect is significant. Carl's participation in international forums has been as an accredited expert or observer. Hence, he brings to the table a wealth of personal experiences that fall outside the realm of journalistic reporting or pure academics. This research basis, combined with other data venues, delivers a solid informational edge to his audience.
The Writer:
Presently, Carl edits and writes for a monthly intelligence-styled publication, Forcing Change (www.forcingchange.org). Each issue, which is 12 to 20 pages in length, is a valuable, fully documented source of analysis, providing an exceptional world-view window.
His first published articles, incidentally, had nothing to do with "politics or religion." Instead, he found his writer's pen through Canadian motorcycle magazines - a reflection of his love for riding - and in 1995 received a national award for this work.
That same year, however, witnessed an event that sharply focussed his already developing research hobby: the death of his 17-year old brother. While his love for riding remained, his heart was no longer in motor-journalism. Soon, Carl started floating articles to the Christian research community, and by the fall of 1997 was employed in a full-time book research/editing project for another Christian author.
Now, after a decade of writing, Carl has approximately 150 articles circulated in a variety of print and web-based publications. He's also penned a number of specialized reports, engaged in manuscript editing jobs, and has assisted other authors with technical research work.
The Communicator:
Carl's presentations on globalization have been given to groups as small as 8 and as large as 800, in churches, small colleges, and to general and professional audiences. His presentations, combining phenomenal slides with personal experiences, have been noted for their depth, intensity, and challenging message.
