About Sherrie Ashcraft
Greetings from western Oregon! I'm glad you've stopped by to get to know me a little better. I'm always happy to meet new people and enlarge my world through them.

John and I married 38 years ago and have two children who have enriched our lives with six grandkids. I think grandchildren are some of God's best inventions! Our son and his wife live on the opposite side of the state, where he's a policeman and she works with special needs students. They are parents of four.(The youngest two are twins.) We lived near them for years and I was able to help take care of the twins for the first 18 months of their lives.

One of the neatest things in my life is that we share a multi-generational home with our daughter, Christina Berry, and her husband and two children. We found fifteen acres of forest land with a large house over an empty daylight basement. My husband turned the lower level into a beautiful home for the two of us, so each family has their own house.(Yes, Christina and I have separate kitchens.) We've been living together for 3-1/2 years and it's been a great experience for all of us. Having grandkids upstairs and getting to see them every day is fantastic. And now that Christina and Kevin are doing foster care, we get to be involved in that too!

It's really convenient to live together, as Christina and I also write together. We've completed one co-authored novel, and she has written one on her own. We seem to be getting closer and closer to a publisher accepting us, so we continue to learn our craft at conferences and apply what we learn. It helps that we're able to complete each others sentences.(As we like to say, we share one brain and were separated at birth!) We publish an infrequent, humorous newsletter where we share what the Lord is teaching us on this journey of becoming published writers. We'd love to have you sign up for the Ashberry Lane Newsletter. (There's a great contest for subscribers.)Just stop by www.ashberrylane.net and hit the subscribe button.

The biggest adventure of my life was when John and I (and our two young children) served as Baptist missionaries in Nigeria, West Africa. (And lived to tell about it!) We were there for three years in the mid-1980s and had experiences we will never forget. Now John and I serve as Elders in our church, and as Awana Commanders. We're really enjoying this phase of our lives.

Peace in the Pieces   11/20/2009 - 12:11 AM
November--the month that makes us realize the year is nearly over. Nights are long and the rainy days seem to last forever. Children complain about sore throats and come home from school with hacking coughs. Christmas is just around the corner, bring... (login or sign up to read more)

How Embarrassing!   11/16/2009 - 12:24 PM
Do you have any idea how embarrassing it is to say you have a blog, but you rarely post anything? What does a non-blogger, who has a blog, look like? Their skin is creased and wrinkled from holding their head in their hands while moaning, "Alas, a... (login or sign up to read more)

Review of A Slow Burn, by Mary DeMuth   10/15/2009 - 10:20 PM
What would you do if you were called to the morgue to identify the body of your thirteen-year-old daughter? What emotions would course through your soul as you were hit with the realization your drug and alcohol abuse may have played a part in the lo... (login or sign up to read more)

Just a quick note today before flying out to the national American Christian Writers Conference, held this year in beautiful Denver, CO. I always have these grand plans of being prepared a day ahead of time, just needing to put my toiletries in at th... (login or sign up to read more)

The Great Cover Up   9/10/2009 - 9:31 AM
I don't know about you, but there are times when I'm a messy cook. People always say, "The proof's in the pudding," but for me, the proof's in the cookbook. Just thumbing through my cookbooks can prove my claim, as pages are glued together by an erra... (login or sign up to read more)

Hi Sherri,

Thanks for responding to my invite. My middle name is Anne. I also write novels, I have two for YA and am currently in the midst of doing a fantasy novel for middle graders. My youngest daughter, an eight year old is working with me on it along with her whole third grade class. So far the only thing I have published is my inspirational stuff for adult women, but I am hoping with this middle grade novel along with on of my YA's to break into the fiction market.

You have a blessed week also.

All for the Glory of God,

Chris

Sherrie,

That's great new about her book. I don't have a lot of time to read, but when I get the chance her book is on my list. *smiles*

Margaret, a friend here on Shoutlife went to that conference also. Did you enjoy your time there?

I'm having a terrific week. *smiles*

*hugs*

Thank you for answering back. I'll check out your blog about your daughter's book release. Is this her first one?

Sherie--How are you?? I've thought about you so much over the last months. Sorry to have been out of the loop for so long.

And thanks for the heads-up about the Facebook Fiasco, ugh! I've deleted my profile but apparently it can take 14 DAYS to actually disappear. Just imagine how many more people I'll be able to offend in that time-frame. The enemy's really trying to get his grappling hooks into me lately, and this is just one more of his dirty tricks....

Hope all's well, my dear. I promise I'll come back soon and catch up on the goings-on in your life.

'Til then.....

Hugs--
Julie

My dearly beloved Sherrie:

Peace be unto you!

Given the current distress and perplexity which the world is experiencing, inspirationally caused by the forces that be through man and nature, it is important that certain mysteries are brought to light at this time, that the wearied soul may find comfort in understanding the time and season, and his designed course and ordained destiny, as the end of the journey and its glory are upon you: for every journey must have an end. The time is come for you to gradually receive the full knowledge of God's grace, as the last fulfillment is at the door; grace to you: for Peace, the latter rain, whom you seek, and whom the world esteems not, is in your midst, incognito: for as it was at the first, so again it is at the last!

To he that has perception: Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open (expound) the book, and to loose (interpret) the seven seals thereof. Thus you were told to watch: for he comes as a thief. And understand the presence of a thief: for he never comes announced; but is in your midst, yet unawares to anyone but he that he makes his presence known to: incognito. Let he that has an ear hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches (the body of faiths), even unto all men: it is the voice (doctrine: testimony) of the seventh angel (Peace: the last). The peace of the Father, which is accorded the Son, be with you; and the love of the Father, whom you are, ever to be reflected unto your brethren. Shalom! Salaam! Namaste!

Eternally with you!
Your friend,
Nicky
