Dying to Decorate! (2005)
A secret door, a hidden room, bloodstains on an old quilt and a yellowed journal tell the story.
Dying to Decorate is the first book in the hilarious Friday afternoon Club Mystery series for women who cherish friendship...and a bit of mystery. While juggling the responsibilities of carpool, laundry, and ballet lessons, this group of close friends find time to act as sleuths, unraveling mysteries and gaining spiritual truth along the way. Readers will readily identify with these richly drawn characters caught in the chaos of raising a family, maintaining friendships, and sorting out the items of intrigue that draw them in.
Midwest Book Review says& Salzmann employs a deep sense of humor with a genuine love of her family to take the reader down a fascinating historical path that includes the Underground Railroad. Her idea of human values and religion rings true, and the story she has to tell is one of simple Nebraska settlers who risked everything to help to end slavery. DYING TO DECORATE begins with light banter, but its lessons are sober and inspiring.

I'm a wife and mom who also happens to write books. My latest series is a lighthearted mystery published by Howard Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster. Crime & Clutter just hit the shelves this spring! A video trailer to give you a sneak peek is below. Be sure to turn on your sound. : )
I've also written three nonfiction books and do quite a bit of speaking to women's groups. The focus of this ministry is to provide encouragement for the "domestically challenged."
Okay... so that's my "official" profile. Here's the REAL scoop...
I've been married to my patient husband since 1981 and he still believes I don't know how to start the lawn mower.
We are busy raising three children - Freddy (20), Liz (19) and Anna (14). A note to mothers of young children. Catch up on your sleep now. You'll need it for the teen years.
I started writing books in 1997 as an excuse to avoid laundry. The subsequent publication of these musings led to a speaking career - surprising me even more than my children. (You mean people actually ASK you to talk, Mom?) Now my kids all know how to sort colors - and what to do when the washing machine starts jumping around.
I do most of my writing on the back of fast-food wrappers usually while waiting for carpool. It still amazes me I finished five books. That's a lot of chicken quesadillas.
In my "spare" time, I love to cook, read, and work on family scrapbooks. This last pursuit allows me to permanently destroy any photos of myself I don't consider flattering.
As summer sports kick off, my kids aren't the only ones working up a sweat. Nervous parents like me -- who have shelled out enough in orthodontic care to feed a third-world country -- are sweating on the sidelines in fear that their kids will end up ...

The pastor has another school as an emergency location for this Sunday, but that school isn't in such good repair. He's asking for prayer to find a suitable location that will be available every Sunday. Pls pray.
