About Susan Hood
Susan grew up in Montgomery, Alabama. Raised in a loving Christian family and daughter of a bivocational Southern Baptist pastor, Susan's roots grew deep in down-to-earth conservative Christian soil. She attended Samford University, a Christian college in Birmingham, Alabama, where she majored in Business Management and minored in Music. Susan's love for God has been the driving force in her life with music as a close second. But life happens in a broken world and she has learned that NO ONE escapes hurt and disappointment. Susan's emotional and spiritual struggle to forgive ultimately led her to cope with hurt through emotional detachment; internalizing the pain, denying that it existed, lowering expectations and keeping even the closest of relationships at arms length. But coping is not overcoming and Susan's desire to live the abundant Christian life she longed for led her into seeking help through a Christ-centered 12-step program called Celebrate Recovery. Initially only involved as the C.R. worship leader, Susan soon discovered that recovery is not just for the chemically dependent, but for anyone with any type of hurt, habit or hang-up. Susan has a heart, in particular, for those in Christian leadership who face struggles in their own spiritual walk but have no one and no where to turn for encouragement, support and accountability. She understands the guilt and shame that accompanies self-condemnation and the fear of judgment and of disappointing others, especially God. Susan has found true healing and is eager to share that hope with others. She has experienced the grace of God and lives a life that extends that grace to others. Susan's songwriting is an overflow of what God is continually teaching her. She believes recovery is the process of sanctification; putting away self and becoming more like Christ.

Romans 12:2 "..let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will know what God wants you to do, and you will know how good and pleasing and perfect His will really is."
