Before becoming a full-time writer I collected live mammals and reptiles for US and foreign distribution, collected live venomous snakes for antivenom production, and was involved in sundry wilderness construction projects. I've also worked as a press agent, a song writer, and was the captain of a small, leaky cabin cruiser.
I have one perfect husband and six children. One son is recovering from service related injuries (SWAT, Virginia Beach), one dives with the sheriff's department on rescue operations (FL), one preaches in KY, and youngest son, Frank James, is a musician, horse trainer, actor, and co-writer of our yet unpublished devotional, Weep Not, Fear Not. The oldest girl was a marine and is now a school teacher and pastor's wife in CA. The youngest girl, MARY JAMES, is my cowriter on five novels and the devotional.

There may be ups and downs as God works out the answers to our prayers, but it's never wise to jump out of the elevator while it's still moving. And while we are riding on God's promises, we shouldn't try and second guess Him and think the elevator's...

Ecclesiastes 10: 10: If the iron be blunt, and he do not whet the edge, then must he put to more strength . . ." If we write something only moderately well, it will take much more effort to sell it. But if we take the time and effort at the beginning...

Didn't I pass this test already?

Has God just given us another chance to pass a test? Maybe we gave in to despair or acted unwisely the last time a similar thing happened. So now here it comes again. Maybe God keeps giving us the same test until we finally pass it and can go on to t...

When we go aside to pray and don't feel Gods presence--it's not some great mystery. It's not because we haven't prayed hard enough or long enough. It's simply because we don't totally believe He is there. ...
