Interest Relief is music to live to. It is an experimental-rock-pop sound that is distinctively accessible. This music sets out to prove that people are intended for authenticity, that life and truth are inseparable by design. It succeeds through a fresh take on popular music, obliterated musical and lyrical boundaries, and the idea that great songs move the person and not just the body.
Comprised of worship leaders from 4 different Birmingham area churches, Interest Relief is passionate about creating new, innovative music for the church. Their lyrics honestly represent both the joys and struggles of the Christian walk. "So many times I've come before You with my heart in my hands, and it's beating to the rhythm of my own plans," reads the first few lines of "Promises," the second track on the band's new ep. The song ends with recognition of God's grace - "But You cover me in love." Interest Relief just finished recording with producer Rusty Varenkamp who is most recently known for his work on the #1 selling Rush of Fools debut album. With comparisons to groups like Mute Math and David Crowder Band, Interest Relief is popular with both youth and young adults.
"Interest Relief is the music that I've always wanted to make," says writer and lead singer Brad McConnell. "I finally feel comfortable enough with myself to offer the Body of Christ my unique perspective. The fact that people seem to enjoy IR is proof that each of us has a purpose and the ability to serve others, even in doing what we love, especially in doing what we love." Interest Relief creates songs that are genuine and innovative, simple and diverse. Just as life is natural and deep and moving and real, so is the music of Interest Relief.
