Hi! My name is Mark Thompson. I am (1) a Christian (2) a husband (3) a father & stepfather. I have been part of a stepfamily for most of my life - for the better part of 25 years. I know what's it like being a stepchild, a stepfather. And what's it's like to live in a Christian and nonChristian family. Out of all these years, the most challenging for me (and I've found it to be the most challenging for others as well) is to try and raise a family as Christians. You see, when you have a stepfamily, there are influences that are totally out of the stepparent's control. It's really tough to watch children you love being influenced by others in their family (spouse's ex) and not have any say-so. With that said, I've written about it. It's a way I can help others with some things that I have learned - both with the stepchildren and the entire stepfamily dynamics. The pure nature of a step family, especially when the 'other side' is involved and influencing your children's life, is excruciatingly painful.
It can fester into a cataclysmic ordeal of pent up emotions that will haunt you for the rest of your life...
