I enjoy music and singing (and have been blessed with a 'better than shower ready' voice), writing, reading about politics and anything about Russian or European history, working out and running. And what computer geek wouldn't include "new tech toys?!!"
I love to travel - especially cruises. What a way to go! You only have to get yourself to the port and hand over your luggage. Then you unpack once and do as much or as little as you want. For me, there is no better way to go.
But mostly I like good times and great conversations with friends (over Starbucks, of course!), laughing, making others laugh and generally just having fun!
Music
I listen to contemporary Christian music - Michael W. Smith, Kathy Troccoli and Avalon are among my favorites! I also like 70s and 80s pop/rock, some metal, smooth jazz, and classical.
Just about anything but country, hip-hop and rap works for me.
Books
Lately I've been surrounded by lots of programming books so I can get my programming skills current once more. And also The One Year Chronological Bible. My goal this year (again) is to read through the entire Bible. I try to do that once every few years but haven't been as successful as I'd like to be.
Movies/TV
The Sound of Music is probably my all time favorite movie. I also enjoy good sci-fi movies (it's the techie geek thing, again!) and a well done comedy with redeeming plot and values. For scary movies, it has to be The Birds. I can see something freaky in nature causing this to happen.
Our TV is usually set to Fox and Friends, Bill O'Reilly, Hannity and Colmes and Greta V.. I also enjoy The Simpsons, as well as most episodes of Bridezillas. Despite the language issues (thank goodness for the editor's bleeper button!) it made me realize during my own experiences that I really wasn't going off the deep end! LOL. I also watch a fair amount of programming on History and History International channels and Lifetime Movie Network.
The 10 Commandments in five words: Love God and love people!
JER 29:11
"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, "plans to give you hope and a future." NIV
These words have been the driving force of my life for the past few years. With all the changes that have come into my life, it is comforting to know that there is a plan and a purpose for all seasons.
Despite living here over two and a half years, I am still adjusting to a new life in Chicago. It is very different from the life I was used to in Louisville, KY!!
I am a developer/computer consultant by way of a degree in mass communications. God has an interesting way of giving us the desires of our hearts if we are just patient and try to enjoy the ride. I started out when I transferred to Taylor University as a computer science major but could not handle the MATH requirements. Very strange since I had done well in math in high school. So, I switched to mass communications and found a new love - writing. Many moons later, the company I was working for wanted to train people who knew the business to be programmers. I applied and was selected.
As you may have heard, the youngest daughter of Steven and Mary Beth Chapman was tragically killed last night (May 21, 2008) in the family driveway. Please remember the entire family in your prayers. I remember seeing SCC in concert a few years ago r...
