Hmm...
Well, one would have to be Francine Rivers and her work with the Mark of the Lion trilogy. The amount of research done for that series was amazing--everytime I read them, I feel like I am transported back to the Roman Empire days. She also didn't overwhelm the reader with facts, which can be hard when writing historical fiction.
I also really find myself influenced by Liz Curtis Higgs as well. She transported me back to 18th century Scotland in a heartbeat. I look to her example with dialogue as she did a great amount of research to make it accurate.
I'm sure there are more but I'll have to think about it :-)

Not really sure on this one...I don't think I'm similar to any of the authors out there just yet--I've still got a looong way to go :-)

Well, I am an aspiring historical fiction writer who hopes to someday have a novel (or two) published. I love writing about the distant past and making it come alive again.
I am intrigued by other places and cultures and often my stories will take place in various places around the world. Currently I am attempting to work on a piece set in Japan in the late 19th century; I also am working on a trilogy that takes place in Israel around the time of Christ. However, I have many, many stories from different time periods, ranging from the exotic Far East to the colonial origins of America. I love nearly all aspects of history and sometimes I find myself getting lost in it.
That's basically it for now...I'm just a simple girl with a passion for the past. :-)

Seriously--I need to STOP with the excuses about not writing. I was bitten by the lazy bug and it's been hard to combat the symptoms! Still, it's something that must be done!
Tomorrow...er, later today I mean...I have to start working on my book a...

I completely lost track of time! I suppose I just got caught up in the whole NaNoWriMo experience.
By the way, I did end up winning! I ended up with just over 51K :-)
Of course I've been bad since the end of November and haven't really worked ...

I couldn't think of a title...so that's what it is.
Well I'm more than halfway to 50 K for NaNo. If only I was halfway done with the book...lol, I'm pretty far from that. I have no idea how long it's gonna be.
I'm so glad I embarked on NaNo. N...

And 35K to go!
Actually, it'll be much more than that...the way my novel is progressing I'm thinking it'll be closer to 100. Not that I'll even come near that this month...but I'll go as far as I can.
Here's an excerpt (the prologue) from the book...
