Mission: To awaken a generation out of spiritual death and religious complacency, calling them into their individual purpose and corporate responsibility as an offensive army imposing the Kingdom of God.
Karen Wheaton penned the previous clause as a declarative, prophetic statement about the assignment on her life. Beginning in her teenage years, Karen has used her time and resources as instruments for ministry. Her services are marked by the celestial presence of God she provokes and the sharp, proceeding word of the Lord that her singing and teaching mediate. The nature of Karen's schedule changed in 1998 when she obediently moved back to her hometown, Hamilton, Alabama. Encountering Hamilton's purposeless and lethargic youth, an extreme desire seized Karen to awaken within them a hunger for God. Thus the Ramp began.
The Ramp serves as a gathering place for passionate seekers of God and for those who long to have passion ignited. As a denominationally neutral ground, the invitation is for whosoever will. The heartbeat of the Ramp is to facilitate an encounter with a real God and to have his son, Jesus Christ, glorified in every way. This movement began in the back of a small storefront church with 7 young people. In an atmosphere of truth, prayer, and worship, God's love arrested their hearts, they abandoned sin, and a constant pursuit of the Father was established. Today, this happens on a grander scale, as over 1,100 attend the Ramp's once a month conferences.
The Ramp also houses the ministry team Chosen. Chosen consists of approximately 30 men and women in their teens and twenties. Karen shares her platform with these 30 young ministers that they may operate in their intended anointing. Off the platform, Karen mothers the group into spiritual maturity. Inheriting her heart and vision, the members of Chosen seek to use their gifts to fulfill the assignment given to Karen. As a unit, Chosen ministers through drama and dance. Every choreographed movement declares the prophetic word of the Lord--the same sharp, proceeding word mediated through Karen's ministry. Traveling on weekends, Chosen goes into churches and other gathering places with Karen to cause a spiritual awakening.
Another integral part of Karen Wheaton Ministries is Project Ezekiel. Under the leadership of Karen Wheaton, Damon Thompson, and Jeremy Austill, Project Ezekiel was created to provide a community for youth pastors. Its purpose transcends a particular ministry, for it calls those leaders seeking to become fathers and mothers to a generation, as Karen states: "There is a generation waiting to hear the voice of the prophet crying out for the wind of the Spirit to breathe life into their dead, dry bones. We are looking for those men and women who have been chosen to awaken and equip this mighty army for the purpose of advancing the kingdom of God. I look forward to working alongside those of you who are called to this revolutionary mission."
