Katy King, Interviewed
My name is Molly Noble Bull, and today I am visiting with Christian author, Katy King. Welcome Katy.
Same to you, Molly.
Q: So, is Katy King your real name or the name you write under?
Answer: My name is Kathryn King. I write inspirational romance novels under the name Katy King.
Q: Where were you born and where do you live today?
Answer: I was born in Beaumont, Texas, but those were the days of atomic bomb fears, and the Beaumont-Port Arthur area was known to be on the list of targets for Russian nukes, so my parents moved to Arkansas (my dad's home state) when I was 6 months old. I grew up there and moved back to Beaumont when I was 16 and have been here ever since.
Q: Are you married, and if so, do you have children?
Answer: I'm married to Charles Brocato, and we have no children unless you count our 2 dogs and 24 laying hens.
Q: You just said that your husband's name is Charley Brocato. Humm. Brocato sounds Italian. Tell us about Charley. How did you meet him, and what line of work is he in?
Answer: I met him when I worked as a checker in a grocery store while I was in college, and he came through my line with two grocery carts full of fresh vegetables and tried to pay me with a check and no driver's license. The other checkers said he was okay, but I wasn't so sure. Two carts of fresh vegetables? There was something definitely weird there. Turned out he was on a juice fast, and on top of that, he was a great cook who always started by chopping his own fresh vegetables. So I lucked out. How many women do you know who get their meals cooked fresh for them every day? He is a scientist and author, and has taught self defense all his life. Living with him, I am never bored.
Q: I noticed that you have a book titled The Cartwright Heritage that was published by Wild Rose Press. I think our readers would like to hear something about that book. So, when was the book published as an e book? And when will the printed copy come out?
Answer: The book came out in August as an e book, and will be published in print form in November of 2007.
Q: I love to shock authors by asking the next question. So be prepared. In just a few words, what is your book about?
Answer: My book is about finding love that has been there all the time.
Q: Sounds interesting. Can you tell us a little about the plot of that book?
Answer: Leah Jones and Trip Cartwright were childhood friends, and when Leah is suddenly overwhelmed with seemingly insurmountable problems, Trip comes to the rescue with an offer of marriage. She can divorce him, he says, as soon as the little girl she's caring for is old enough to enter school. Since Leah has always loved Trip, she says yes and hopes Trip will learn to love her in return. But someone is trying to kill Trip, and Leah must sacrifice her chance at winning Trip's love in order to save his life.
Q: Where and when does this novel take place?
Answer: The novel is a contemporary Christian romance and takes place in Beaumont, Texas.
Q: Where can we buy this novel?
Answer: The novel is available at www.thewildrosepress.com.
Q: You are a Christian fiction author. When were you first saved and have you always walked with the Lord? Or like most of us, have you gotten off the straight and narrow path now and then?
Answer: I grew up in the Baptist church, but found the ideas presented in New Age thought more appealing than the teachings I had grown up with, especially since I had decided that I was "better" (in terms of sinful behavior) than most of the Christians I knew.
Q: What advice can you give to other Christians with problems like yours?
Answer: Keep your eyes on Jesus, not on other people. And remember that New Age is nothing more than the "old" stuff that was enticing people back in the time of Moses.
Q: What hobbies or interests do you have other than writing?
Answer: I am a ham radio operator and have a number of interests, like birding, fossils, rocks and geology. As a child, I was very into reptiles and amphibians. Instead of dolls, I had toads and lizards to dress.
Q: So, Katy. What are you working on now?
Answer: I'm working on another inspirational romance for Wild Rose Press.
Q: That sounds interesting, too. We know Shoutlife readers can contact you here at Shoutlife. But do you have a web address or another blog address you would like to give your readers?
Answer: My husband and I have a website at www.chemicalbiological.net, which has many interesting articles for people interested in chemical and biological warfare, and in surviving the coming hard times.
Thank you, Katy, for visiting with us today. And may you and yours be blessed always.
