When my son came home from school with a Shel Silverstein book, I read it with him, and we laughed and had such fun. I think it made an impression on him as well, because now he buys ME Shel Silverstein books. I love Silverstein's sense of humor and wordplay. I may never be a 'Shel' but I have the same fun as I write for children.
As for the devotionals, when my children were little, I didn't have time to sit and read for long periods, so I developed the habit of reading devotionals. Not much has changed over the years, and many times I, like thousands of others, turn to books with spiritual insights presented in a concise form.

I'm a columnist for The Dabbling Mum, NABBW, and CWAHM (Christian Work at Home Moms). My articles and poetry have appeared in Reminisce Extra, Just Between Us, Guideposts for Kids, Penwomanship, Sisters in the Lord, Wee Ones, and many more.
My work has been selected to appear in several anthologies, most recently in Daily Grace for Women, Devotional Reflections to Nourish Your Soul, Honor Books, April 2005, and Anytime Prayers for Everyday Moms, Warner Books, November 2006.
My children's book, Topsy Turvy Land (Hidden Pictures Publishing, July 2005) has been described by one reviewer as "a perfect read for young children...a world full of bright hearts, where it isn't difficult to find God's love."
For the past fifteen years, my husband has pastored an Assemblies of God church in Ohio. I'm working on a Theology degree, and I'm the Women's Ministries President, Adult Bible Class Teacher, pianist, and singer - in other words, the typical "PW" - Pastor's Wife. :)
I also speak, sing, and visit schools to read from my children's writing.
I've been told I look at everyday life and finds God's fingerprints everywhere - from bird watching to the Beatitudes. My prayer is that my writing will touch the heart with wisdom and humor while feeding the mind with daily portions of God's Word.
