Her background also has roots in Ministry and Education. In 1996, she and her late husband, Dr. Joseph Betti, founded HALO Ministries International, a missionary outreach ministry. They planted churches and started HALO Christian University where she graduated in 1991 with a Bachelor in Biblical Studies and in 2001 with her Th.M. When Dr. Betti passed away in 2007, Rita moved to Los Angeles to continue the call of God on her life. She was accepted into the Act One Saturday Writing Program in 2008 and there met Jim Frye and Valerie Henderson. After graduation, the three of them, along with Deborah Kay and Glen Preece, began the process of establishing FishGate Productions.
Always learning, Rita is currently a media arts student at LAVC studying production and has continued as President of HALO Ministries International. Her film credits include such short films as The Hook, (writer, 2005), The Letter (writer/assoc. producer; 2006),168 Film Project, Asha to Ashes (writer; 2007) Common Thread,(Exec. Producer, writer, 2009) and Adam's Eve (in
production, Exec Producer/writer).
