I'd love to have you stop by!!
I love reading and for several years I buried myself in books. I thought that if I could keep myself busy enough, and preoccupied enough I'd be able to ignore God calling to me. The more I ignored His calling the more miserable I became, and the more miserable I became the more more miserable my family became. During those years I didn't ignore God Himself, but I tried to selectively listen to Him. It doesn't work. Thank God, He is persistent! Through a series of events that only God could orchestrate, I began to crack. Out of desperation and disgust (with myself) I finally threw up my hands and said, "Ok, God. If You want me to write I'll write, but it sure would help if I had a writing group like my sister has a quilting group." Within days God led me to Faithwriters and reminded me of what I'd said to Him. Without stopping to think about what I was doing, I joined Faithwriters. I even printed out their page on 'How to make the most of this site' and went down the list, checking off each item as I did it. God is forever faithful. He sent me affirmation after affirmation and encouragement upon encouragement, leaving me no doubt that I was in the right place and doing the right thing. My Faithwriters friends became family to me, alternating between cheering me on and prodding me. God has me on a journey that is continually surprising me and I'm excited by what He's doing in my life.
When I was 12 my family moved to Ecuador, as missionaries, and I went to an MK school there until I graduated from high school. Even though I lived in Ecuador for only 6 years, those years shaped me into the person I've become--right down to seeing life differently than the average American.
I've been married to a wonderful man for 18 years, and we have 5 children, who are, naturally, also wonderful. (Ok, usually wonderful!) Since we home school, my time is spent at home with them, giving me opportunities to do some writing in the margins of my life.

When I turned 30, my mother informed me it was time to grow up. I drew blood when I bit my tongue to keep from reminding her that I had four children of my own?but she was right. (Yes, Mom, you were right, but you forgot to tell me the rest of the ...

I laid out another batch of trim boards on the sawhorses and studied the stack I still had left to do, wondering if the pile was growing when my back was turned. At this rate, I'd never get done by the end of today. My sawhorses were set up along ...

Spring's Birds

There are birds in my yard once again. Lots of them. Through the winter months I'd forgotten how much I enjoy seeing and hearing them; I just accepted life as it was: not completely birdless, but almost.
That's how my spiritual walk is sometimes...

Frosted Blossoms

Well, last night we got our annual late frost. The nectarine and peach tress were blossoming but the frost got those. I love watching things bloom in the spring and I hated seeing those blossoms die instead of maturing into fruit, but I know things...
