Twila LaBar is a diverse, prolific songwriter with success in several genres of the Christian music industry. She is a staff writer for Brentwood-Benson Music Publishing.
Twila began writing at age 12. Since then, she has endeavored to write songs that point to the hope of Christ. She relocated to Nashville, TN to pursue this dream.
Recently Twila has had songs recorded by Point of Grace - "On God's Green Earth" and Avalon - "Orphans of God," (both co-written by Joel Lindsey). She has also had songs recorded by Charles Billingsley, Dottie Peoples, Babbie Mason, Vicki Yohe, Evelyn Turretine Agee, Karen Peck and New River, CrossWay Quartet, Legacy V, The Talley Trio, The Inspirations, and many more.
Twila recently received a prestigious BMI Award for "Orphans of God," (Avalon), in April 2008. This award was presented to songwriters for the most performed Christian songs on the radio in 2007. "Orphans of God" was nominated for a Dove Award for Southern Gospel Song of the Year 2008, (The Talley Trio recording). It also received a Dove Award nomination for Inspirational Song of the Year 2007, (Avalon's recording).
You'll hear several of Twila's songs on Dove nominated and Dove award winning artist projects. Many of Twila's songs have been recorded by Word Music, Hal Leonard, Brentwood-Benson, Lillenas, Genevox and Alan Publishing arranged as choral anthems or in choral musical collections.
Twila also produces demos and independent CD artists projects. Her production work began in the early 90's, writing and producing jingles for radio and television, as well as producing her own song demos.
