The Year Without You (2009)
"The story of a heartbreak in 30 days."
I was engaged once. And when it, and I, broke - I wrote a book, which began and ended in the space of a month. Many years passed before I was ready to let go for good, and more before I was ready to share it. Friends helped me illustrate it with photos and drawings, and 10 years to the day the last poem had been written, it was released. (Release is a beautiful word.) I hate trying to explain the mysterious way they all hang together but here is my attempt: The poems touch on one sort of limitation or another - security measures after 9/11, lack of faith, (actual) prostitution, unforgiveness, weakness, poverty, etc. - and whisper of hope. E-zine collaboration of Kairos LA church in Hollywood, California (a Great Commission Ministries church plant) and the surrounding community, which I edited and oversaw design for. It was just a one-time project, followed by an enormous e-zine release party... :)

child squirrel
tiptoeing through the garden's compost
on a hunch
he puts his nose in the earth

'ello friends,
I realize this page has been un-updated for about a year now, and I have a new book out I'd never mentioned, etc. etc. So now it's all added, and a lot of the old stuff has been 'subtracted'. To catch you up on the news with me.....
