Hey Folks it's nice to meet you. My name is Jimmy Broyden and my son Josiah has Down Syndrome. That's little Jo on the left giving me a big hug. He's my buddy. I have been a stuntman since 1991 and I recently launched my family Foundation. My wife and I have 7 children and we love the Lord. I'm working toward setting the world record for a highfall of 350 feet from a helicopter to a custom made air bag to raise funds for DS. Dar Robinson set the record of 311 feet in 1979. The desired set up for this event would be in the Skydome in my hometown of Toronto or an open roof stadium which holds 60,000 to 100,000 people. Folks with Down Syndrome/Special Needs have free admission. One friend with them enters for half price maybe up to 10,000 seats. The rest of the seating leftover, some 40,000 to 90,000 seats pay full admission which would be reasonably priced for this event is geared toward family. Some live singing entertainment is desired as well. Our desire is to have San Francisco native, singer-song writer and recording artist Jon Gibson make a guest appearance and sing some of his beautiful songs. With large events like this I can raise enough funds so babies with Down Syndrome can have corrective heart surgery.
The air bag is set up on the stadium floor while the chopper hovers 350 feet above. Please consider praying and asking the Lord to supply someone with the finances to help me build the bag and/or help me find sponsors if it be His will. I have been wanting to set the record since I was 14 years old. Now I have a purpose. The next event after 350 would be to break 400 feet. It would be extra special for Down Syndrome to break 400 at the Super Bowl halftime show or at an event or location of some magnitude. But I would also do the fall in the middle of nowhere to raise $5 while the crickets and birds watch. I'm dreaming big because I serve a mighty God.
Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary. Many a man have tried to escape. It is a unique landmark loaded with history and mystique. I have personally been there and peered out through the bars of Al Capone's cell who was imprisoned there in 1934. I have stood in the area where some of the world's most notorious gangsters and criminals have, and looked at the clock those prisoners called "Times Square". Alcatraz Prison was an experience I will never forget. I desire to do a highfall into Alcatraz. It is a potentially dangerous stunt due to the ferocious and unstable winds coupled with instant weather changes. In the end it may not be safe. Remember I am a Stuntman not a Daredevil. Safety is #1. I want to land, hug my children, kiss my wife and go out for some San Fran pizza and watch the walruses on Pier 39. Then head cross the Bay Bridge into Oakland and see a Raiders football game. I have been a big Raiders fan since as far back as I can remember.
I was once a prisoner with a life sentence from 11 years old for 17 years, incarcerated behind the bars of drug addiction in my own Alcatraz. In 1993 Jesus came into my life. The Master Locksmith put His key into the lock of my cell, broke the chains of sin and a death sentence. The one who died on the cross to pay the full penalty for my sins gave me a full pardon. I bowed down to the King Of Kings and asked Him to forgive me of my sins having learned He died for them. With a loud declaration heard throughout Heaven He pronounced me, "Not Guilty". He loves you and wants to do the same. Our God is a Strong Fortess in whom we run to for safety. Alcatraz holds my attention. We all know what it means - NO ESCAPE! I will try to do a highfall into ALCATRAZ.
