Eye Witness and my personal artistic style are really unlike most of what you see out there today in the world of comics and graphic novels. My artistic style is very clean and straight-forward with my primary focus always rooted in good solid storytelling along with visual character development...as opposed to lots of flashy-pinup style art, which is certainly beautiful, but doesn't always lend itself to telling a multi-layered story.
As for my writing style....Although I really enjoy a non-linear type story, (ya'know, ones that really require the reader/viewer get involved in the plot...like the movie, Usual Suspects). With Eye Witness I've tried to take the best selling book of all time, and make it seem fresh and vibrant by trying to fill in the gaps between the lines (so to speak) through character development and making the story "more" linear. Through this method, my hope is that those who are not church-goers or Bible-readers would be attracted to it and be easily drawn into the world of the first century Roman Empire.

Eye Witness (Book 1): Revised Edition (2009)
Our first digital only release...this is a revised edition of the first book in the Eye Witness series (A Fictional Tale of Absolute Truth).
We've literally went back to the drawing board and totally remastered the colors from the bare blk/wht art forward, cleaned up some editorial misteps and even revised some of the narrative...so it better lines it up with the rest of the series, (since this book was originally conceived as a one-and-done).
This version will not see print and is exclusively available through the Head Press Publishing website. All you need is a PDF viewer to read. Ideal for those of you who may have not have yet read any of the series and want a lower cost alternative to get started, or have just not been able to find it in one of your local book/comic stores.

This is the first book in the Eye Witness graphic novel series.

The Template series (collected works) (1995)
BEFORE THERE WAS KYLE-XY, there was Jason 4! BEFORE THERE WAS HEROES (The TV show), there was...TEMPLATE!
Template is a black & white sci-fi action adventure comic book series,(1995-1998), whose foundation is that there may already be people with advanced mental abilites living among us (Psychotrons)...and of course there may be people and/or organizations already using those people to achieve their own selfish goals. The series focuses on one such individual, Jason 4, who has been nurtured since birth to be the TEMPLATE for the next step in human development...the Pscyho-sapien!
Shortly after his 16th birthday, Jason, learns the true nature of what he is to become...a psychic corporate assassin for an international energy conglomorate. He immediately rejects this destiny, escapes his captivity and ventures out into the world at large for the first time in his life...which is where our series begins.
*(FYI...This series was produced prior to my rebirth as a Christian, so it does not have the Christian foundation of the Eye Witness series...but ironically you still will find glimpses of it peeking through the narrative now and then and it is suitable for all ages). The series is a very revealing study in the development of an artist and writer, since you can trace my development from first published work, (very raw) in issue #1 (1995), through 10 overall issues where I honed my craft (1998).

Award-winning graphic novelist, Robert James Luedke has been involved with the comic book and graphic novel industry, since 1989. His second graphic novel, EYE WITNESS: ACTS OF THE SPIRIT, took first place in the Comics Catagory, at the Hollywood Book Festival (2007); a Silver Medal at the 2007 IPPY Awards; was a finalist in the FOREWORD Magazine Book of the Year Awards; and was also named one of THE 42 THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT INDY COMICS IN 2006, (by Wizard Magazine).
The Third book in the series, RISE OF THE APOSTLE, was the winner at the 2008 NATIONAL BEST BOOK AWARDS (in the catagory of comics: graphic novels), which annual competition sponsored by USABOOKNEWS.com and a finalist for the FOREWORD Magazine book of the year awards.
Shortly after becoming a new man through Christ, in 1999, Robert began writing the first EYE WITNESS graphic novel (A Fictional Tale of Absolute Truth). LOL Jon Guenther gave me the heads up and I got a post in before you. It really is depressing to see CBA do this. Tracey is a fan of my work and when she told me Zondervan, whom I'd already contacted about taking Forever Richard, (before I understood CBA was denominationally exclusive,) was going to let her write vampire book, I laughed. I told her then, they won't let you write about vampires, it will be some contrived something that sounds like a vampire. And now we have a fangless vampire. Good grief! Oh and the first one to appeal to Christians. Oops, they forgot to mention coming from an exclusive CBA publisher so don't expect vampires of lore or anything that appeals to general market Christian readers. O_o
Yeah. I saw it. :(

Compassion, love, kindness, gentleness, and yes! even humility are God-given virtues designed to improve our physical and spiritual space. So let us use these virtues in increased measure...We could all stand a breath of fresh air!

I have just watched the video above of your interview. It is wonderful to see how the Lord is using you as you relate the message of Christianity. Your ability to direct the message to a specific group of people is admirable. So much today is about graphics as it seems to be a big topic among video gamers..There appears to be a great interest to visually perceive a thought or action. Your work is wonderful way to satisfy this interest as you relate a powerful truth.
