About Captain James Harrar
I am with Jesus People U.S.A. in Chicago, I am 43 years old, married with 2 kids.
The music I'm working on is not a band thing! It's more like a pirate thing leaning toward a unique and fun way to worship -and/or sing along with for fun.

I can play a harmonica But I'll not call me'self a musician -Like the song goes "I can't sing, I ain't pretty and my legs are thin" . I do write farely good lyrics mostly about life on the sea, pirates, privateers and of course my Lord, Savior, God and King -Jesus Christ.

What started me doin' this project was that every Thursday I Host a devotion time at Jesus People and my musician friends were often just to busy, and/or unavilable to assist in the worship time, so rather than not worshiping we started doing it a cappella and the easiest way to work that seemed pirate style which also made it fun, Then I needed more songs so I found a few written in the 17, and 1800s, and wrote a few. I've found that a few people like the idea for youth gatherings, and I thought just for fun worship times and if anyone seemed interested enough I'd sent them lyrics if I can or a rough draft c.d. when possible, or mp3s or whatever. I believe the Lord is leading me in this, but I'm just followin' blindly praise be to Him.

My music preference is Heavy Metal, but I also enjoy Blues, Classic Rock, and some folk music. I am also really into the pirate look obviously, and tall ships. I don't consider myself really a pirate I'd lean more towards privateer, as since I was forgiven my sins by the King of Kings! I view it like a pirate given a letter of marque which at that time was a pardon or a commision of service to that King.

Many instruments are performed by my Bo'sun and best friend Brother Red Squirrel, formerly of "Seeds" who also sings the lead on a song called "The Cabin Boy on Blackbeard's Ship", There is a song called "The Confession" which is sung by Colleen Davick formerly of "Seeds" All other songs with a "rougher" vocal are done by me. except the intro to a song called "The Mutiny" which is sung by a friend and leader of the Band "Leper" Skot Shaw, Who also is doing all the mixing and mastering for the project along with many other instruments and backing vocals, All songs featured here were written by me, except one song "The Tapestry" that was written by Glenn Kaiser (Resurrection Band, Glenn Kaiser Band) and Jon Trott, Brother Red Squirrel and I just re-arranged it a bit with permission from The Kaiz and Jon themselves. The other song on this project not written by me is an old Hymn The Words written in the late 1800s by a guy named " John H. Yates" called "Faith Is The Victory" This project is in the works and is of serious demo quality. and finally nearing completion MAY THE KING SEND YOU A LETTER OF MARQUE AND MAY YOU USE IT TO SERVE HIM!
I am presently working on a metal version of this project that is soon to be completed with the help of some friends, most of the songs are written by me except "Faith is the Victory" and all the arrangement is done by myself, and Brother Red Squirrel, and Skot Shaw of "Leper" Skot Shaw is also doing all the mixing of the metal project, and is playing many of the instruments on there as well, I am very happy with it so far and look forward to sharing it with anyone, who dares bend an ear to it. argh!
