So you're a tattoo artist, are you? Well, all I can say to that is OUCH! LOL Seriously? I have given a LOT of thought and prayer to getting one on my ankle. Drew up a design and went into a local place, heard some young girl caterwauling and ZIP out the door I went. LOL

Anyhoo, I'm looking forward to getting to know you better as I learn more about you and your work. (My tattooed friends tell me it really doesn't hurt all THAT much....)

This is in reference to the following comment left by another user:

"How can you reconcile promoting tattooing with this Scripture: LEV 19:28 " `Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD." ??????? This doesn't sound like a suggestion to me."

Here is how I personally reconcile it:
LEV 19:27 " 'Do not cut the hair at the sides of your head or clip off the edges of your beard. "

The verse immediately preceding the one you quoted uses the same language to say that you should not cut your hair short on the sides, and not shave your beard/clip the edges of it. When you look at all of the rules given by God in that passage, it becomes obvious that there is a context to what He is saying.

God laid out rules for Israel so they would be different from the pagan cultures around them. Some of the rules were about who they could marry. Some were about how they ate. Some were about how they maintained their crops. Some were about clothing and accessories. And others were about their bodies.

Tattooing in that region was mostly practiced by pagans in an act of worship/mark of allegiance to a particular god. The shaved heads and body jewelry also helped to identify that. Within that culture, it was a way of separating Israel by keeping them free from tattoos and piercings and shaved heads.

Today, having a tattoo has no more pagan ritual to it than wearing a tshirt. If Jesus is glorified on your body art, I think He's ok with it.

That's my 2cents.
