We should always be listening to God. The world says I'm a composer. But it is the music of the Heavens that I have had the good fortune to hear and write a small part down for the rest of the world to enjoy. The music "I" write has it's own unique sounds, and oftentimes one song "I" compose will not be anything like another one "I" compose. Music is a journey and ever changing.

An expert in teaching creative children and helping parents understand their creative child, Catherine coaches parents, and works with students of all ages, teaching music and the piano. Creative people see the world and every aspect of the world differently from other people. As children we don't know we are doing that. Unfortunately parents think that their child is just being difficult. It wasn't until Catherine was in her 40s that she realized she WAS creative and that that was why she never really 'fit' in with what everyone else was saying or thinking or feeling. Since then she has been taking her experiences and helping others to understand what they are going through.

Hello Everyone! *smiles* Thank you for coming to my page. Let me tell you a little about myself.
I have an adult son, who I homeschooled from 3rd. grade until he went to college at age 16. We homeschooled back when most USA States said it was illegal to homeschool. We had the honor of lobbying at some state levels for homeschooling.
Of course God should be first in all our lives. I love my family and friends. I teach piano/organ/keyboard and voice. It's not a profession as much as it is a big part of who I am. I have been blessed with music - the ablity to teach and compose. I understand the creative child and how they see the world because I was a creative child, even though my parents wouldn't let me realize that. They wanted me to be 'normal'. I think they were just scare. I'll blog to you about creativity and you'll see why I think they were just scared.
I was adopted when I was a baby. I think in alot of ways I had a very unique experience with this, starting with how they told me I was adopted. I'll blog to you about this also, and the fact that some of my birth family found me when I was 50ish.

Thank you, Catherine, for your friend request. I see that we have the love of music in common, and I also taught piano years ago when I lived in Alaska. I lived in Christian homes in our church, and taught their children piano for room and board. Now, I would like to do that again in a few years during my retirement. I have inherited my mother's piano that we had in my childhood home, so it is very precious to me.

You sound very interesting. I also teach piano, sing and was a bit of a creative child as well. So I can relate to you in not always fitting in to the norm.
I'm interested in what you know about home schooling. Do you have to receive training as a parent to do this? How is this achieved? Is there a curriculum you have to go through? Where does the social interaction in learning come in?
