Upperdeck was started in December of 2007. The band is a platform for a Christ centered 8 step teen recovery ministry called "Life Hurts, God heals"(lhgh). We are part of Simply Youth Ministry's affiliate program and run a lhgh's program at our home church in Indian Head, MD. Every member of the ministry is either a leader or a student in lhgh. Upperdeck hopes to reach teens and young adults where they are in life, through a common platform?music. The Bible tells us that God uses our failures and faults for His glory and that no hurt or struggle is wasted;

26Brothers, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. 27But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things?and the things that are not?to nullify the things that are, 29so that no one may boast before him. 30It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God?that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. 31Therefore, as it is written: "Let him who boasts boast in the Lord." (1 Corinthians 1:26-31 NIV)

So we feel blessed that He has chosen us to work through, with our testimonies within our lyrics and stage show. We believe not only that Jesus is Lord and God, the father, raised Him from the dead to pay for the sins of the world, but also that He yearns to have a personal relationship with each of us. We not only hope to plant seeds into lost teens, but to enlighten Christian teens as well and to offer the resources to churches across America and the world that will help them to start Life Hurts, God heals classes at their churches. We hope to spread the good news of hope in Christ Jesus.


19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Matthew 28:19 (NIV)
