M. Russell Thomas, PhD has been practicing clinical psychology in the state of North Carolina for over 27 years. He has worked extensively with inpatient and community based services for young adults with severe mental illnesses, assessment of children with attention disorders and learning disabilities, individuals battling substance abuse issues, families in distress and geriatric patients with Alzheimer's disease, depression, and age-related mental health issues. He is married to Karen Leigh Thomas and together, they have parented 6 children, now ages 9 to 27. They are active in local, national and international ministries, particularly partial to those caring for orphan children. Dr. Thomas has worked extensively within the homeschooling community and is an enthusiastic supporter of homeschooling and other alternative education models for children. Currently, most of his energy is spent encouraging people to assume and maintain personal responsibility for their health, including their physical, mental and spiritual well-being.
