"We had flutes and trombones around the house. For my siblings and me, music was important to give us some balance. If it weren't for music our entire social life and our avocations would have had to do with sports"
"I would think we all tear up during the national anthem at the beginning of a baseball game, don't we? That's an alikeness between Alaskans and New Yorkers"
"I eat, therefore I hunt. I want to fill my freezer with good, clean, healthy protein for my kids. That's what I was raised on. It is abundant and it is available here in Alaska, with caribou and moose and different game and lots of very healthy and delicious wild Alaskan seafood. That's what we eat. So that's why I hunt and why I fish."
"A courageous person is anyone who loses a child and can still get out of bed in the morning."
"My favorite place in Alaska is on a cold winter day in my own house, with fat snowflakes falling. In my nice warm home."
"Carmex. I'm addicted to Carmex. I don't go anywhere without Carmex"
"The first place I worked at was an ice-cream store called Ferina's, in Wasilla. In a fishing village called Dillingham, I worked waiting tables at a bar. Serving people, you learn patience. When someone's mad at you because you're not serving them in the manner that they want to be served, you have to be tempered and graceful."
"After a long day, if the weather's good, I like to take a long, hot run to unwind. Otherwise, lately, I take a bath with Trig, and I answer e-mails, and then we all fall asleep in my big bed while we listen to Piper read her Junie B. Jones books out loud. She's learning to read and she'll read for hours on end. It's idyllic. It's amazing."
"Two meanings in Bristol's name: I worked at the Bristol Inn, and Todd grew up in Bristol Bay. But also, Bristol, Connecticut, is the home of ESPN. And when I was in high school, my desire was to be a sportscaster. ESPN was just kicking off, just getting off the ground, and I thought that's what I was going to do in life, is be one of the first woman sportscasters. Until I learned that you'd have to move to Bristol, Connecticut. It was far away. So instead, I had a daughter and named her Bristol."
"Hot? If only people could see me as I come in from a run early in the morning without a trough full of makeup on, I think that they'd have a different opinion."
"I bite my lip when I'm tempted to wisecrack, because I'm always thinking of something that I'd love to say but know that I better not say it because of the position that I'm in."
"Running is my sanity. Sweat is my sanity. And that was a frustration of mine on the campaign trail, when we couldn't carve out a half an hour or an hour a day to run. The day never went as well as it would have had I had that time to go sweat."
Q. If you could have dinner with anyone in the world, dead or alive, who would it be? And what restaurant would you take this person to?
A. Condoleezza Rice. I'd prepare halibut and blueberry pie for her in my own kitchen.
Q. Tell us one thing even your closest friends don't know about you.
A. My disdain for shopping is pretty extraordinary.
Q. Name something in American culture that really irks you. And why.
A. Ninety percent of what's on prime-time television irks me. I'd just much rather be reading than hearing that daft TV buzz that's too constant.
Q. Do you cook? If so, what's your specialty?
A. Yes. Fat pots of moose burger chili that I cook after long snowmachine rides.
Q. How do you take your coffee, and where do you get it?
A. Skinny white chocolate mocha -- all over town.
Q. If you were attending a costume party, who or what would you go as?
A. Tina Fey.
Q. What's your favorite piece of artwork in your house?
A. A. My daughter's handprint that's displayed in a Native mask. Piper made it herself in preschool.
Q. Name three favorite movies.
A. "Rudy," "Miracle on Ice" and "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington."
Q. How did you spend your PFD?
A. Hockey ice bills and braces.
Q. If you found yourself alone with an entire day all to yourself, how would you spend it?
A. Run, read, bake. Then run and read some more.
Q. What was the best job you ever had that didn't involve politics?
A. Working in KTUU's sports department. At the time, John Carpenter was just the weekend sports guy and John Tracy, Maria Downey and I were very young.
Q. Do you have pets? If so, what kind, what breeds and what are their names?
A. Right now we only own one fish. It's blue. I think the kids call it "Disco."

Sarah Palin made history on Dec. 4, 2006, when she took office as the youngest governor in Alaska history at 42 years of age, and the first woman. During the 2008 presidential campaign, she became the first Alaskan and the first woman to be nominated for vice president by the Republican Party.
Since taking office, her top priorities have been resource development, education and workforce development, public health and safety, and transportation and infrastructure development.
Under her leadership, Alaska invested more than $5 billion in state savings, increased education funding, and implemented the Senior Benefits Program that provides support for low-income older Alaskans. She created Alaska's Petroleum Systems Integrity Office to provide oversight and maintenance of oil and gas equipment, facilities and infrastructure, and the Climate Change Subcabinet to prepare a climate change strategy for Alaska. She also established the Rural Subcabinet to create stronger, safer and healthier communities in the state's outlying regions.
Governor Palin's other accomplishments include the passage of community revenue sharing, an omnibus crime package, aviation safety, the reduction of business license fees, and an overhaul of the state's ethics laws. She took steps to address Alaskans' emergency energy needs by establishing a renewable energy fund, making rebates available for home weatherization and increasing the availability of bulk fuel loans to small communities and utilities.
In a major milestone in state history, Governor Palin's administration developed and implemented a competitive process to initiate construction of a natural gas pipeline through the passage of the Alaska Gasline Inducement Act, or AGIA. Under AGIA, the Legislature authorized the administration to award a state license to TransCanada Alaska to permit, develop and build a 1,715-mile natural gas pipeline from Prudhoe Bay on Alaska's North Slope to the Alberta Hub in Canada.
In a special session, Governor Palin also championed reform of Alaska's new profits-based tax on oil production. The governor's legislation, Alaska's Clear and Equitable Shares, or ACES, captured billions in state revenue at record high oil prices.
Governor Palin is past chair of the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission, a multi-state government agency that promotes the conservation and efficient recovery of domestic oil and natural gas resources while protecting health, safety and the environment. She was recently named chair of the National Governors Association (NGA) Natural Resources Committee, which is charged with pursuing legislation to ensure state needs are considered as federal policy is formulated in the areas of agriculture, energy, environmental protection and natural resource management. Prior to being named to this position, she served as co-chair of this committee.
Prior to her election as governor, Palin served two terms on the Wasilla City Council and two terms as the mayor/manager of Wasilla. During her tenure, she reduced property tax levels while increasing services and made Wasilla a business friendly environment, drawing in new industry.
She has served as chair of the Alaska Conservation Commission, which regulates Alaska's most valuable non-renewable resources: oil and gas. She was elected by her peers to serve as president of the Alaska Conference of Mayors. In this role, she worked with local, state and federal officials to promote solutions to the needs of Alaska's communities.
Sarah Heath Palin arrived in Alaska with her family in 1964, when her parents came to teach school in Skagway. She received a bachelor of science degree in communications-journalism from the University of Idaho in 1987. Palin, who graduated from Wasilla High School in 1982, has lived in Skagway, Eagle River and Wasilla.
She is married to Todd Palin, who is a lifelong Alaskan, a production operator on the North Slope and a four-time champion of the Iron Dog, the world's longest snowmachine race.
Todd and Sarah fish in Bristol Bay with their children - Track, Bristol, Willow, Piper and Trig. Through Todd's Yup'ik grandmother, Alaska's Native heritage plays an important role in their family. Track enlisted in the U.S. Army on Sept. 11, 2007.
Prior to taking office, Palin served on numerous boards and commissions throughout the state. She was active in her family's pursuits - including serving as a sports team mom and school volunteer. She also runs marathons.
Palin is a lifetime member of the NRA and enjoys hunting, fishing, Alaska history, and all that Alaska's great outdoors has to offer.

Hi there! Hope your day is glowing with the Sonshine of God's promises. May God's intentions be realized in your life today and every day here after.
God has made clear His purpose and goal for your life. Because He wants each of His children to understand and accept that His plan is to bring them into the full likeness of Jesus. He wants them to comprehend that He forgives their sins and wraps them in rich robes of righteousness. He wants them to practice being holy as He is holy. Holiness is not a thing beyond your reach it is a commitment to live exclusively for God, His glory, and His kingdom just as Jesus did. Depending not on your intellect, earthly clout, and charismatic charm; But upon God's promises and His Holy Spirit to accomplish the things God has called you to do. He wants you to practice being as Jesus is. He knows you will stumble and maybe often. But He knows above all your stumbling that He intends to bring His people into the fullness of all His promises. Courageously step into the river of God's Spirit, drinking deeply as you go; allowing rivers of living water to flow out of your heart. See John 7:38 So that the world around you is touch, lives changed and multitudes swept into the Kingdom of our God. This was not unique to the early church and the Apostles. This is YOUR assignment. God intends to bring you into the abundant life that He has always promised to His people. And at the same time use you as the vessel through which He changes the lives of others.
Sending love and big encouraging hugs your way!

SENDING LOVE YOUR WAY AND PRAYING ALL IS WELL WITH YOU!
The greatest of all our gifts is love. Without love we are merely sounding cymbals. Clanging gongs! See 1 Corinthians 13:13. Love is the greatest force in heaven and in earth. Because God is love and has shed abroad in the believer's heart the love that exist in His very own heart. It is by the exercise of this love that we defeat all the evil of this world and its master. As we love God, our Father, as Christ does. And love others as we love ourselves, we become winners; undefeatable spiritual warriors.
Spiritual warfare is a necessary reality in the life of all the redeemed in Christ. satan has been for sure defeated by Jesus' sacrifice. But, at the present time neither he nor the whole passel of his cronies are silent and inactive. Therefore, if it is written in God's word pursue it with the very passion of heaven until the promised results are established. You have been given the greatest gift that heaven has to offer, which is the very Spirit of Love. Through Christ God defected satan and forever sealed his doom. Then He graciously invited all who will, to sit with Christ in the heavenly places and share in that victory. See Ephesians 1:20; 2:6; 3:10.
When this is the stance of our life, we move into the fullness of who we have become in Jesus. This love is the very same love by which He fulfilled the law and the prophets. See Matthew 7:12; 22:40, Galatians 5:14, Romans 13:18; 10:4, Act 3:18 Luke 22:37. And then set us free to be as He is in this world. 1 John 4:17. It is this restoration of who God created us to be that satan fears and is so adamantly opposed to. In this place no weapon he forms or anything he says against us can prosper, because God Himself will condemn him. Isaiah 54:17. Why is this so? It is so because when we fail to exercise the use of God's greater power and authority over him, he is enabled to use his greatest power against us. Remember satan is a defeated foe whom God has given us authority over all of his power. Luke 10:19. However, we must take our place in His kingdom and live out this promise.
Satans greatest weapon against the child of God is to convince us that he has more power than we do in Christ. Or we could say more power than Christ in us. While satan and all his minions are thoroughly and eternally defeated they fight on. And you and I are the targets of their arrows of evil intentions. Therefore, just as these principalities and powers of evil fight for his kingdom to rule; we must fight for the kingdom of our God to rule here as it does in heaven. We accomplish this by way of our becoming spiritual godly lights in the darkness of this world. Lights set a blaze by the Spirit of God, which neither man nor demon can extinguish. Satan is defeated but far from inactive. God's people are winners, but far from living out the full reality of our victory in Christ. If you as a victorious conqueror (and this is who God says you are) fail to go forth and conquer evil in the authority of Jesus name; satan will still hold you captive to destruction and defeat. See Romans 8:37. Never forget that winners actively pursue the prize set before them. Until at last they possess all of the benefits of that prize.
Go now and knock down those walls that stand between you and all the benefits of your redemption in Christ. It is written: As Jesus is so are you in this world. We are the throbbing pain in satan's evil heart. When we live up to whom God created and calls us to be. We are actually not enlisted to defeat satan. Christ did that. We are to take our place as lights through which Jesus shines as He Himself dispels the darkness of evil which fills this world. It is Jesus who enforces and ensures our victory and satan's defeat. May all that is allowed in heaven fill your life each day. And may all that is not allowed there be forbidden in your life. See Matthew 16:19; 18:19.
Love big, stay strong in the Lord and let the power of His might forever be your stronghold of safety.
NEW BLOG TO FILL YOU IN ON MY ABSENCE
