Christine Ashford's story is one of struggle, patience, and the ultimate wonder and timing of God's Grace. She formally kicks off her new music ministry with her first professionally produced set of songs, the four song set "Faithful God".
Her story starts around the globe, as Christine was born in Japan and raised in Scotland. Being a military brat, she had the privilege of living and visiting many countries (Philippines, England, Germany) and other states (Texas, New Mexico, Nevada, California, Rhode Island, Florida)
She was raised in the Catholic faith and was by admission a devout Catholic girl. But musical and church upbringing did not go hand in hand until after she became a born again believer.
"Musically, I have been singing as long as I can remember. According to family members, I started singing before I could walk. When I was about 2 years old, I would pick up anything that resembled a microphone and would stand on the coffee table and sing. I would sing along with the radio, television commercials and to albums when my dad would play them."
Singing and performing became a passion and all through school Christine joined choirs, auditioned for school plays and musicals, and developed a desire for performing, acting and an even greater love for singing.
"During high school, I took drama classes, chorus and even band. I had dreams of singing and acting and wanted to go to Broadway. I had a plan to go to Broadway after high school but what was a desire of my heart, turned around and changed and became a calling."
It was at her baccalaureate graduation ceremony that it all changed.
"I had been fasting and praying for the Lord to direct me and show me His will for my life. During our baccalaureate ceremony, my friend sang 'We Shall Behold Him' and the anointing of the Lord's spirit, which felt like warm oil, started to overtake me. I started to weep and I felt like He was changing me on the inside. I felt His healing power touching my emotions, my self-esteem, my wounded spirit. I knew in my spirit that I had my answer. My desire to sing became a passion to minister through song and be an instrument He could use to move, touch, minister and heal others just as I had been touched, ministered to and healed."
The Lord started to confirm the calling by opening doors of opportunity to minister. Opportunities at nursing homes, churches, local festivals, schools and other events followed.
Eventually she found the need to record a fully produced CD project. The result is "Faithful God", a 4-song development project with Creative Soul Records in Nashville, TN.
