About Christian Country Cowboy Church

Christian Country Cowboy Church ...
In a little community in North Central Kentucky, there is an unusual meeting taking place on the last Friday of each month. At first glance it may seem a bit out of the ordinary, and in all honesty, it is. Folks gather from near and far to come to Christian Country Church or as they more affectionately call it, "Cowboy Church." It isn't your regular church service, far from it.
With barn lumber, fences, various barn yard items, lighting and sound, the church is transformed each month into a Country Music Showplace. There is a family atmosphere, cowboy hats and boots everywhere, and people of all ages having a good time listening to Country Music with a heavenly twist.
These unique meetings are hosted by Christian Country Artists Zeb & Joy Son. They are members of the Christian Country Music Association (now known as ICMA or Inspirational Country Music Association) and have been nominated more than once for Vocal Duo of the Year. Zeb & Joy have had a few songs on the Christian Country Charts and also do Concerts and Ministry Regionally including some Mission Work in Appalachia. David Davis, another regular at Cowboy Church, has also been on the Christian Country Charts.
Zeb says, "This is what I like to call a 'Different kind of Country Music show'. It is a very relaxed, very non-threatening place to bring a friend who likes Country Music, but may be a little hesitant to go with you to regular Church. We like to show folks that Christians can be down to earth, real people, and that we can also have lots and lots of fun. We do our best to provide an evening of wholesome entertainment, for which we make no apologies, but more that that, Christian Country Church is really just another platter from which we serve up the good news of Jesus Christ."
A typical evening will kick off with several songs from the House Band featuring various members on lead vocals, after a break for announcements, Cuzin Gus (a hillbilly of sorts) usually emerges from a side room, and with the help of the audience, calls in the rest of the "Boys from Sasquatch Holler". They are a little unorthodox to say the least. If you're not entirely too stiff, they'll probably have you laughing shortly, then treat you to a song of their own special flavor.
Though Cousin Gus and the Boys are indeed a tough act to follow, what does follow is an hour or so of some of the best music and ministry you'll find anywhere. Cowboy Church brings in National Christian Country Artists from all over America. An Artist such a Ken Holloway, Lisa Daggs Charette, Jeff Silvey or Mike Manuel (to name a few) will take to the stage and offer up an outstanding concert that is certain to speak to your heart.
Cowboy Church welcomes everyone no matter what your background, and in fact encourages everybody to take advantage of it, and bring a friend, a neighbor or a church group. There is no admission charge since they are supported by the donations of those who attend and contribute when the hat is passed, so to speak. If you plan to take a large group, you may want to call ahead.
Now for a few details. Christian Country Church is in the process of looking for a permanent home. The ministry and Bible study services have been expanded to every Friday night with the concert night still held on the last Friday of every month. Until we have a permanent location to post, please call (502) 222-7857 for location information. And don't forget, they're in the Eastern Time Zone and it starts at 8:00 p.m. on the last Friday of the month and is over at approximately 10:00 p.m. There are restaurants, hotels and various specialty shops located in nearby La Grange, KY if you wish to make a night or a weekend out of it.
Zeb adds "As far as I know, we're the only place around doing what we do and featuring Christian Country Music. We've had people visit us from all over Kentucky, some from Indiana and Tennessee and I'm sure I'm leaving out some. We've even had a few from California who planned their Kentucky trip for the last weekend of the month so they could be with us. Christian Country Church has been a real blessing to lots of folks. I'd like to say a Big Thank You to all my dear friends who volunteer their time and talents to help make it all possible. We just keep on doing what we can and watch God take it far beyond our expectations. Y'all come see us!"
So, do yourself a favor. Check "Cowboy Church" out for yourself soon. When the house lights dim, the theme music starts to play, the House Band bounds to the stage, and with a hearty "Yee Haw" from the audience, another Christian Country Church is underway.
