I'd say "Nobody, I'm unique!", but my wonderful reader-friends have often compared my style to Mary Jo Putney and Nicholas Sparks. Go figger!
|
|
I love them! (I'd have to be pretty strange to write books for a living if I didn't love them,
wouldn't I!) Books entertain me,
educate me,
take me places,
and keep me company through baseball,
football and hunting seasons.
My favorite authors? John Steinbeck,
Jack London,
Dean Koontz,
Nicholas Sparks,
Sharlene MacLaren,
and (surprise!) Loree Lough.
My favorite book? Why,
the Bible,
of course!

His Grace is Sufficient...but Decaf is Not! (2011)
Need a High-Ocgtane Surge of Grace?
There is absolutely no substitute for God's grace. It's irreplaceable! Can it really be that, as we navigate the high-wire act of our busy lives, God's grace forms a quiet safety net beneath us? When we don't have the ability or even the drive to accomplish God's will for our lives, His grace is there. Or when we've chosen the wrong path, His grace is a heartbeat away, to dust off and show us the way home.
In 100 upbeat and thought-provoking devotions, the authors help us to find truth in the middle of our crazy lives. Instead of putting our hope in good works, careers, the perfect family, or even a double shot of espresson, they remind us to rely on God's supply of grace...
...which never runs dry!
(Authors: Sandra D. Bricker, Loree Lough, Trish Perry, and Cynthia Ruchti)

Love Finds You in Folly Beach, South Carolina (2011)
First impressions, thank goodness, can't be trusted!
When marine biologist Holly Leonard agrees to help Parker Brant write a book about giant sea turtles, she expects a charismatic charter boat captain--not the straight-laced former soldier with a too-tight lid on his emotions. For his part, Parker is surprised to find that instead of the matronly grandmother he'd imagined, Dr. Parker is a blue-eyed beauty who's warm, fun--and a total klutz!
When Holly breezes into Parker's well-ordered world, it quickly becomes apparent that the two are incompatible in every way...
...or are they?

Maverick Heart (2011)
Nurse Levee O'Reilly and her husband, Dr. Liam
O'Reilly, are headed west to the California Territory to practice medicine when their stagecoach is tragically attacked by the infamous Frank Michaels. All alone now and grieving, Levee makes her way to Eagle Pass, Texas.
The local doctor can't afford to pay a staff nurse, however, and so she turns to the only other option?teaching. Devoted wholeheartedly to her students, Levee has little time for romance.
Deep down, Daniel Neville wants to be a preacher, but he's battled doubts and distrust for most of his life. Wracked with guilt over his twin sister's death and then "punished" with a limp from an injury sustained during a stampede,
Dan dedicates himself instead to serving his family and working with horses on their ranch. Marriage is far from the top of his to-do list, and he aims to keep it that way.
When a coincidental meeting brings Levee and Dan
together, they're awakened to a long ignored desire for love and acceptance by the realization that they might have finally found it. Can these two mavericks accept the plans God has for their lives?

Unbridled Hope (2011)
Callie Roberts has a dark secret.
One starry night, a steamboat explosion on the Brazos River kills 47 people, including Callie Roberts' parents, older brother, and fiancé and renders her youngest brother deaf. Believing she's responsible for the tragedy, she builds a thriving business to ensure a secure financial future for her brother in the town where her fiancé would have served as assistant pastor at the Eagle Pass church.
Rancher Micah Neville has a secret, too.
Micah's cousin Dan has been like a protective older brother for most of his life. So when Micah accidentally intercepts a threatening letter intended for Dan, he hopes to help Dan for a change. He's shocked when the dance hall girl (who falsely claims Dan is the father of her baby) accepts a bribe?and leaves without the boy; cousin Dan has barely gotten his life back on track after years of self-punishing alcoholism, so Micah does the only thing he knows to do, and claims the boy as his own.
When Callie steps in to help Micah care for little Reid, it's clear that God is in charge, and that He aims to expose their troubling secrets.
Will fear and stubbornness keep them alone in the dark, or will Unbridled Hope be the light that leads them to a happy future together?

About Loree Lough, writing faith-based fiction
|
Well, hello there! I'm glad you stopped by. Come on in and I'll start a pot of coffee, and while it's perking, I'll explain how I got here.
Long before the good Lord called me to write, I sang for my supper. During those amazing years, it was my honor (and my pleasure!) to "open" the show for stars like Tom Jones, Marvin Rainwater, the Gatlin and Glaser Brotherss, Tammy Wynette, Faron Young, The Ink Spots, and a whole lot more.
I enjoyed criss-crossing the U.S. and Canada, and loved seeing all the incredible God- and man-made tourist attractions, but nothing compares with memories of volunteering at V.A. hospitals, where I walked from bed to bed, crooning special requests for soldiers injured in the Vietnam War. (Yep, I'm that old!)
After thousands and thousands of miles, God said, "Pack up that guitar, girl, so I can introduce you to the man you're going to marry!" And before I knew it, I was a madly-in-love wife and mom, living in a tiny house at the edge of farm country, where bats in the bathroom, cows in the yard, and acrobatic raccoons on the clotheslines inspired zany stories that appeared in periodicals around the globe. When my non-fiction "clip book" was stuffed to overflowing, the Lord guided me to write faith-based novels.
And 84 books later, He's still leading me on that path.
FROM ASHES TO HONOR, #1 in my "First Responders" series, is one of my favorites of them all. A 9/11 story, it was released to coordinate with the 10th anniversary of the tragedy. I've earmarked a generous portion of my personal proceeds from the series to Soldiers' Angels, Special Operations Warrior Foundation, and The Wounded Warrior Project, and I'm praying you'll visit their web sites to see what YOU can do to help our brave soldiers and their dedicated families. And after you've done that, please take a minute o watch the riveting mini-movie (below) that describes the story! (Book
#2, Honor Redeemed will hit bookstore shelves in January, and #3 in the series, A Man of Honor releases next summer.)
Well, the coffee's done, so while I set out cups and cookies, why not take a leisurely scroll through the rest of the page, then mosey on over to Loree's site! and see what I've been doing since the Lord told me to trade my Yamaha for a Dell!
And I'm 100% serious about this: If anything weighs heavy on your heart, dear friend, let me join you in prayer, for as He promised, "Wherever two or three are gathered in My name...."
And now it's your turn to tell me all about yourself! I'm looking forward to getting to know you better!
Big hugs and lotsa blessings,
Loree

Here's your May 2013 - TRAIL MIX, Enjoy!
As we traverse the Narrow Path, we often like to refer to ourselves as Christians, born-again believers, Baptist, Catholics, Methodists, non-denominational, Assemblies of God, Charismatic, spirit-filled, or simply believers in God [if I omitted your particular denomination, I am sorry, I only have so much room to write].
However, if I am interpreting Jesus correctly in John 20:21-23 (RSV), where Jesus said, "Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so, I send you." And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit" he was deputizing* each of us to go forth into the world and be his proxies with the full spiritual power of authority of heaven to do his work, in His name, to a lost and hungry world.
This is an amazing directive, and it places upon the shoulders of all believers the spiritual mantle of authority to carry things out, here on earth, in His name for His glory.
Think about this....when you say, I am calling the local Sheriff's Department to report a crime, who shows up? The elected Sheriff himself, or a sworn deputy? The elected official is not going to be available for a large area of people, so that official deputizes as many men and women as needed to represent them and do the work of enforcing the law of that particular county. Try telling the deputy that stops you for breaking a traffic law, or when they have a warrant for your arrest that you will only surrender to, or accept the ticket from the "Man" himself?
You will be in handcuffs before you finish your statement, and the sad thing is, you may never see the Sheriff himself, because the deputy was sworn to uphold the laws and do the work of that person, giving them full power to act in the Sheriff's name, no matter what the circumstances may be.
That brings me to this month's Trail Mix. Jesus told you and I, that while we sojourn this Narrow Path, we are to traverse it as if he were himself traveling across it. Meaning that you and I have ALL His power to do his bidding to enforce his divine will in His stead. And that bidding is accomplished through prayer. Prayer is the main job of the church. And in 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NLV), Paul reminds the church that they are to," Be full of joy all the time. Never stop praying. In everything give thanks. This is what God wants you to do because of Christ Jesus."
And we are being entrusted with this ultimate power of prayer because as Paul says in 1 Corinthians 6:3 (NLV), in heaven, God will trust us to take charge over, and judge the angels [who, by the way, have no need to pray, because prayer is a gift given only to mankind]. I consider the fact that we are deputized t do the bidding of the church while here on earth, to be a form of on-the-job-training!" We are learning with each step we take on the Narrow Path, so why are you standing around complaining or wringing our hands over the difficulties that beset you?
Do you not realize that he promised to not only be with you on the path, but as He said, we have the very presence of His spirit within us while he is in heaven building and preparing our condominiums? Child of God, you were deputized for a reason, and that was to grow in your authority to take full control over these things you come personally with along the path, in Jesus's name. And by taking full control in His name, we are enforcing the heavenly principles here on earth, as they are in heaven [like in the Lord's prayer - pray: that our Father in Heaven shall permit his will do be done here on earth as it is done in heaven]!
Does this mean that we can have anything our heart desires? No! However, it does mean that we will always have what is allowable within his perfect, and sometimes permissible will, for our life and the life of those we pray for! Now, that is one awesome truth and a promise for the ages! Selah!!!
Shalom,
Pastor Paul
*Credit for the teaching of "deputizing" the church goes to Dr. Paul E. Billheimer and his best-selling book, "Destine for the Throne!"

This months trail mix for your journey on the Narrow Path is titled "The Pain behind my Smile...is still comforted by His hand in mine" was prayerfully and meticulously prepared His help, for you....Enjoy!
The smile on my face doesn't mean my life is perfect! It does mean that I do appreciate what I have and what Jehovah Jireh has blessed me with! (author unknown) Selah~Shalom!
I can testify that this is a fact. My life has been QUITE far from perfect; however, through His eyes and love, I appreciate the good as well as the bad moments in my life; the valleys as well as the mountaintop experiences; the joyful expressions of "Hallelujah's" intermixed with "God, where are you, I'm hurting, and only you can relieve the pain?"
It goes without saying that the path I walk has had its difficulties and moments of complete and utter despair, but also there have been those times where I was led to drink from the springs and rivers so timely placed to refresh, revive and lift me up!
There have been moments of complete respite in your arms; and because of this peace and comfort, I can most assuredly say, "I would have it no other way."
This is exactly where I want to be, in both the good and bad times, because I know that it is my Savior and Shepherd who holds me by my hands through it all!
I have no doubt, whatsoever, that Romans 8:28 (We know that in everything God works for good with those who love him, who are called according to his purpose - RSV) is meant for each of us as we traverse the Narrow, yet difficult Path through life that leads to heaven...Shalom!
Now, always be hopeful....and go, and sin no more!
Pastor Paul
