It was May of 2000 when Divine Flava Records officially became an active business in the state of Colorado. I will never forget the excitement I felt when it was finally up and running and the blessing God allowed me to have by calling myself CEO & President. The label just like any other company has been through its up and downs over the last seven years it has been in business. I felt the call on my heart from God to start the business when I was watching the 700 club. That particular episode they had a handful of large corporate Christian business owners on the show. They talked a lot about how they ran their business with integrity and put God first in every business matter. The thing that really stood out was when they talked about how they wanted to be faithful with few things and believed God would bless their businesses with much. This being taken from the scripture in the bible Matthew 25:21. I had already been thinking about starting a Christian record label but just wasn't sure that was what God wanted me to do until that day. After watching that show I began to hear God's voice everywhere confirming through the scriptures and through other Godly men and women this is what God wanted me to do. I took the idea to my wife Jessica and we continued to pray about it and seek God's will for this ministry. By the Following year My wife and I decided to move forward and start Divine Flava Music Group, Inc.


There were some people that did try to discourage us from starting the record label and I refused to let them steer us from what God wanted us to do in life. Once the label was started I became not only the company CEO but also its first artist. I released my first album under the brand new label in August of 2001 and had our first national distribution deal by October of that same year. Slowly but surely others began to see what God was doing through DFR and began to get involved to help the label grow and mature. Such artist as Spanish Kid, Rollah, Dyscyple, and Unf8abo jumped on board from the early beginnings and helped shape what is DFR today. Steve "Spanish Kid" Sanchez and James "Rollah" Medina eventually became executive board members for the company. We have tried to run DFR as closely to a regular recording label as possible. Though there has been lack of finances and our distribution channels not always being on point God has blessed this company in so many other ways. We have seen thousands of youth touched by our music and changed lives across the country. It hasn't been easy, but God has always made it worth the blood, sweat, and tears. We now currently have seven artist on the label, an in house studio, a graphics department, an A&R rep, and bookings across the world just to name a few of Gods blessings. People often ask what is next for Divine Flava and we tell them Just Taste and see. We have always been a company that believes in thinking big, praying big, believing big, and doing big things for a big God. So we never limit what God can do through us and through this record company. We have been blessed to release over a dozen records throughout the seven year history of DFR. Yet there is so much we still want to see done and accomplished during this season of our life and business. So we do what God allow us to do for the time being until he sees fit to allow us more. So until then we will be faithful with few and know God will put us in charge of much much more. This was just a Taste of the Flava.
