Johnny Juarez is no Ricky Martin or Gerardo (remember "Rico Suave?"), and he's fine with that. Instead, the handsome singer-songwriter is a humble family man who just happens to travel the world singing in both Spanish and English, using his music to help people know and worship Jesus Christ. His ministry-oriented concerts combine interactive fun and spiritual themes, with time devoted to the sharing of Biblical principles and his personal testimony of how God restored his life and family.
Born in Houston, Texas, Johnny Juarez spent most of his life living in one of the world's most multi-cultural cities: Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Already established in Canada, where he won a 2006 MAJA Award (honoring Gospel artists in Canada) for his strong pop-rock vocal abilities, Johnny Juarez now lives in nearby Buffalo, New York, because its airport allows him to easily fly to concerts in Mexico, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Honduras, Spain, and several cities in both Canada and the United States, without any hassle.
After releasing two popular Spanish-language CDs in 2003 and 2005, Johnny Juarez is most excited about his latest project, 2008's "Here I Go" CD. The album of ten pop-rock, English-language songs is set to take Johnny Juarez's passionate singing style to whole new audiences. Produced with the help of Sean Spicer and Henry Gonzalez, "Here I Go" is gaining airplay on radio stations in Canada and the United States with the powerful title track, as well as stand-out tracks like "You Are There" and "Let Me Tell You."
With experience opening for Jars of Clay and Bryan Duncan, Johnny Juarez is concentrating on establishing himself with English-speaking Christian music audiences, and "Here I Go" will definitely help do that.
Seen as an adult contemporary artist, Johnny Juarez hopes his latest project will appeal to fans of popular artists like Casting Crowns, Salvador, and Big Daddy Weave.
