About Prestige Quartet
The Prestige Quartet was organized in November of 2006.
Individually, we've sung and played Southern Gospel Music on the quartet and convention music landscape for a number of years.

We are much involved in weekend homcomings, singings, concerts and various special programs across Alabama and eastern Mississippi and western Georgia, and are home based in Talladega, Alabama. We are:

Faye Thornell- One of the finest alto singers you'll ever hear. She began singing in her very popular family group, The Browns, and later sang with other trios and quartets. She's recorded a CD of her favorite songs that'll knock your socks off.

Phillip Thornell- Faye's husband, is our fine baritone and sound engineer. When he's not singing, Phillip sells and installs sound systems and does engineering work where amplifying sound is vital. He also plays piano cross-handed, something you've got to see and to hear. The Thornell's live in Talladega.

John Eversman- is the newest addition to the group. He sings the low part, something he's been doing for 30 years. He help start the Cedar Valley Boys Quartet from Rome, Ga. John and his wife, Kathryn, live at Cedar Bluff.

Allen Layton- is a smooth lead singer but could and has sung first tenor. A Baptist minister, Allen writes some of our songs, plans our personal appearance programs and speaks for us on stage. He's retired, lives in Oxford, Al., and formally sang with his family trio, The Laytons.

Walter Hamlin- is our wire puller, better known as our bas quitarist. A state retiree, he loves to fish and builds and refinishes furniture. He also plays pedal steel quitar, his first love. Walter and his wife, Mavis, live in Talladega.

Basil Penny- plays keyboard and helps select and arrange some of the groups music. A retired jounalist, he's played piano for a number of groups. He and his wife, Mary Ann, live in Piedmont, Al.
