The Forbidden Secrets of the Goody Box (2010)
What your father didn't tell you and your mother didn't know
Successful. Beautiful. Intelligent. Yet a satisfying relationship eludes Debra Hampton. At thirty-five years old, she can't figure out why her philosophy on men?and what they want from women?isn't working. She's trapped in a cycle of shattered relationships, until a friend refers her to a relationship guru. After some resistance, Debra finds refuge in the counsel of Doc Reid as he helps her navigate through the storms of rejection and failed love. Once he reveals the error of her ways, will Debra master the forbidden secrets to attract her soul mate or continue to keep love at bay?
Christopher "Doc" Reid?as he has been nicknamed by friends and clients?has analyzed the mechanics of relationships for almost twenty years. Not a medical doctor, his God-given insight makes one believe that he has a Ph.D. in matters of the heart: a relationship cardiologist. ChristopherReid.org

Tainted Mirror An Anthology (2007)
Whether restricted by prison walls, the influence of others or held hostage by self-inflicted limitations, captivity starts in the mind. We allow our thoughts to create virtual restrainers that stifle our dreams and hinder our purpose.
Based on I Corinthians 13:12, Tainted Mirror An Anthology will offer stories of hope and healing to overcome the mental, physical, and emotional strongholds that keep us from fulfilling our destiny.
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
~ I Corinthians 13:12

The Midnight Clear (2006)
With twinkling lights, department store sales, decorated trees, gift exchanges and plump bearded men promising children their hearts' desires, it's no wonder the holiness of Christmas is lost in the hoopla. In The Midnight Clear, nearly two dozen authors come together to remind the world of the true meaning of the season. This wonderful assortment of stories will make you laugh, cry and celebrate, as their characters embark on journeys to find gifts of healing, hope and happiness. Valerie L. Coleman's story, Safe in His Arms, deals wilth a mother's anguish as she spends her first Christmas without her children. Her account is included with some of today's most acclaimed authors of African-American Chrisitan fiction, including Kendra Norman-Bellamy, Patricia Haley and Tia McCollors.

*******************************************************************************
Valerie L. Coleman has been called to help writers get their books published. Walking in her purpose, she helped to establish a publishing company for Christian books and plays. She edited manuscripts, handled financial matters, ensured the accuracy of print specifications and managed book inventory. Coleman has since spread her wings and established her own company, Pen Of the WritER or POWER.
Coleman has coached hundreds of aspiring authors through the process of writing and publishing. In addition to one-on-one consultations, she conducts workshops that provide step-by-step instructions on prepping, printing and pricing literary works. As an editor, her experience spans several genres including Christian fiction (The Rain Series), Christian nonfiction (Anointed to Die), children's books (Granny Says) and memoirs.
Her first compilation, Blended Families An Anthology, released October 2006 (ISBN-13: 978-0-978-6066-0-2). Stories from novice writers and published authors from across the nation minister to the unique demands of blended or stepfamilies. The second Pen of the Writer book project, Tainted Mirror An Anthology (ISBN-13: 978-0-9786066-1-9), released October 2007. This collection of stories offers hope and healing to overcome the mental, physical and emotional strongholds that keep us from fulfilling our destiny.
Coleman was a contributing writer for The Midnight Clear, a Christian fiction anthology published by KNB-Publications. Her story, Safe in His Arms, is included with best-selling authors, Kendra Norman-Bellamy and Tia McCollors. In addition, Coleman's story, His Number One Girl, has been selected for inclusion in Chicken Soup for the Stepfamily Soul. Coleman writes the Blended Families column for Keeping Family First, an online magazine, and the printed publication, Urban Believers Magazine.
With a heart to teach and serve, she founded the Pen To Paper Literary Symposium in 2004. This annual conference draws participants from Washington to Florida. Past presenters include national best-selling authors Dan Poynter, Lynnette Khalfani, Vickie Stringer, Parry "EbonySatin" Brown and Kendra Norman-Bellamy. In 2005, Coleman co-founded Write On! Workshops. These workshops are geared towards the novice writer.
In May 2006, Coleman took her writing and publishing curriculum to the prisons. In addition, she developed a writing program for high school students. Under her tutelage, students learn the art and business of writing with the objective of completing a novella. Coleman hopes to incorporate scholarships from accredited institutions as the pinnacle of the Passionate Pens program.
Eager to invest in joint collaborations, Coleman is a founding member of the Soul of the Pen Tour. The objective of the six Christian authors is to use the written word to develop healthy relationships and strengthen families. Partnering with Dr. Vivi Monroe Congress, Coleman formed Queen V Publishing to transform manuscripts into polished works of art. Her newest venture is as booking manager and business liaison for the gospel trio, Christopher.
Coleman has a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from GMI Engineering & Management Institute and an MBA from the University of Dayton. She is a college mathematics instructor. A mother of five, she resides in Dayton, Ohio with her husband. They worship at Revival
