P-Duble
Influences:
P-Duble has already made a name for himself on the back of his wildly successful single (and popular ring tone) "No Trouble."

P-Duble's story begins on 38th Street and Fall Creek Parkway in Indianapolis. "I watched my mom work really hard," says P-dub. "But of course, I always wanted more. I saw a lot of folks get locked up. But I was still intrigued by what I saw in the streets."

In school, P-dub had one foot in the streets and half of his head in the books. The idea of rapping came to him abruptly at the age of 12. "I was listening to music on my porch with my friend Dante and something clicked. I told him I wanted to write a rap song. He couldn't believe I was serious." An hour later, P-dub (he was actually going by the moniker of Lil' Pookie at that time) returned and shared his song. He joined up with Dante and two of his other friends and formed the group Dead On Arrival. DOA was a loose collaboration of the four key players, as well as other artists. Eventually song's they'd recorded received airplay on Magic 108 (105.7 fm) in Indianapolis.

Eventually P-Duble would branch off on his own and end-up where he is today; with his own label and doin' his own thang. Seriously recording and performing, one of the highlights on P-Duble's upcoming new album is "Why I'm Hot," an honest testament to his work ethic. Over a soulful old-school sample with help on the hook from platinum selling hip-hop artist, Mims; P-dub explains how he managed to keep his eye on the prize in a life full of obstacles.

"I make music for everybody. I want everyone from grandmothers to the kids in the streets to be able to relate to something in my music."
Sounds Like:
33 year old Midwest rapper P-Duble, born Keith Scarlett, is from the streets of Indianapolis, Indiana. He grew-up on Balsam, alternatively known as "Tre' Nickel." Deeply rooted into the Folks Nation since age 12, P-Duble has lived a fast life. Despite all of his hardships, his vision of becoming a world model remains unchanged.

With assistance from his family members (specifically his wife, Jodie), P-Duble has connected with some of the hottest names in the underground hip-hop music scene, which then led to working with the hottest underground artist in the Midwest; Ohio's Ty Wills and his Quite Stankable Productions crew and Stay Beat Music camp?as well as with his newest mentor, long-time Christian hip-hop pioneer, Lady Xtreme.

This past year P-Duble has achieved a certified buzz with the street banger EP, "My Album About Me." With his company, Pike Street Music, P-Duble has developed a solid fan base online, and through radio and was even featured on the nationally syndicated "7 Minutes" TV show. He is currently preparing for the release of his new full-length project titled, "If I Die..." - set to hit the streets on June 1, 2008!

If I Die... (2008)
Lookin' for a new soundtrack to represent your spring game? Get pumped and ready for action with P-Duble's full-length release, "If I Die?."

With a poised-yet-fierce attitude, the 33-year-old Naptown MC spits some sick tracks in this polished album, which includes cameos from Nate Dog and Mims. It's a solid blend of hip-hop and classic throwback, reminiscent of Marvin Gaye. The well-mixed beats and dope lyrics throughout show that P-dub is talented regardless of his years.

Top Tracks: "This Is Why..."
Urbane like Kanye West, this tune flows with rhythms and easy lyrics; features Mims. Good for a pregame road-trip or to pump you up as you're rollin' to the court.

"All Kromed Up"
Poppin' with beats and P-dub's fresh lyrics, this song is great to bang out your trunk. Great for intense workout sessions.

My Album About Me (2007)
P-dub's all-star line-up, both on and behind the tracks, is truly an inspiration. With the likes of Columbus, Ohio music legend Ty Wills (the Master P equivalent in the Midwest music genre) and Freeze, one of the Midwest's best kept secrets, and with Wills behind the board, some may say My Album About Me is overkill. Fair enough, because many artist's may be inspired to kill themselves over it. P-Duble's standing toe-to-toe with some of the most extraordinary talent touching a microphone today. Presently unknown (but soon not to be) Noel and T-Huzzie, Wills and Freeze toss their collective talents into the pot, and what comes back is pure dope in the form of 6 intoxicating tracks. So, when you're rolling through the streets in any hood near you, mind your volume, you run the risk of being cited for driving under the influence of a hard narcotic.

About P-Duble
Hip-Hop is known for bringing the truth about American cities to the masses. Christian hip-hop is known for bringing the truth of the gospel to the masses. It's seldom (actually) a rarity when Christian hip hop is able to do both; bring the truth of the gospel to the masses, as well as bring the truth about an American city, at the same-time. Nevertheless, P-Duble is ready to break this trend and do the same for his hometown of Indianapolis as he does for Jesus Christ.

P-Duble grew-up on the Eastside of Indianapolis in an area he affectionately calls "Balsam/Tre' Nickle." He first got his start in the music business, outside of freestylin' when he wasn't puttin' in work, by teaming-up with childhood friends Sir Tae', D-Lope and B.A., and formed the group D.O.A. (Dead On Arrival). As they continued to record and perform throughout Indianapolis whenever they had opportunity, they also explored other avenues for success, taking business classes and planning to venture into real-estate. Unfortunatley, the group's career never took off, as Sir Tae' and D-Lope doubled-up after B.A.'s incarceration to release only one album on Philadelphia-based Bodybag Records and Lil' Pookie (P-Duble) felt the Lord calling him in a different direction.

Although music was a heavy influence, Lil' Pookie (what he was originally called in his younger days) also realized that education would be essential for his future goals, so he enrolled in higher education after graduating from high-school.

That was in the mid 1990's and now more than 10 years later, P-Duble's career has taken off in a whirlwind of performances and recognition. The R.O.G. (Redeemed Original Gangsta') has performed all over the eastern-half of the United States and his song "No Trouble" has become a radio-staple in several markets.

Beyond the catchiness of the single and the high-energy spirit of the sing that brings people to the dance-floor, the quirky in-your-face visual style of P-Duble is another element that sets him apart and forms his identity.

It all started when P-Duble felt he was being led in a different route than what some of his music mentors and veterans in the hip-hop scene advised; following the Lord's lead and self-produced his newest full-length release; a complete and well-thought out project from start to finish, and destined to bring attention to the Indianapolis rap scene. P-Duble is looking forward to being a pioneer.
