What Leaders are Saying . . .
If you have a need for a speaker or teacher on parenting, I highly recommend Brenda Nixon. She is a gifted writer, public speaker, and small group leader.
~ Bob Morrison, Sr. Pastor
Northwest Church of the Nazarene, OH
Brenda bases her advice on research and common sense!
~ Kathy Quinn, anchor
NBC/TV41, Kansas City, MO
We hosted a parenting workshop with Brenda Nixon as our speaker. She was personable and easy to work with. She did a great job tailoring her talk to meet the needs of our audience. Afterward, our parents were eager to get copies of her book autographed and even bought CDs of her other parenting topics. I acquired several of her resources to add to my resource library.
I enjoyed having Brenda as my speaker and plan to have her return.
~ Heidi Schminke, coordinator
Benton County Empowerment, IA
We recently hosted the 2007 Ohio Adult Workforce Conference where Brenda was one of our breakout speakers. She was professional yet easy to work with. She arrived early and presented her topic with energy and enthusiasm. Brenda connected with the audience and her presentation perfectly fit the needs of our audience.
~ Mary Jo Granger, career counselor
Upper Valley JVS, OH
Brenda is well-liked by our attendees because she uses a variety of teaching methods, is knowledgeable, interesting, fun and friendly.
~ Linda Purdy, child care coordinator
Knox County Department of Job & Family Services, OH

The Birth to Five Book (2009)
We need a license to drive, but the most important thing most of us will do in our lives requires no license or training -- raising kids. And since parents receive no preparation for the enormous task of raising another human being, they often question their own abilities and feel vulnerable to making mistakes. The Birth to Five Book offers parents practical, down-to-earth help and success strategies for this huge responsibility. Whether raising an infant, toddler, or preschooler -- or all of them at once! -- young parents will love this collection of commonsense advice. From feeding and reading to discipline, toilet training, and play, it's all here in simple terms that any parent can immediately use.

Parenting Power in the Early Years (2001)
Brenda Nixon's Parenting Power in the Early Years is an encyclopedic gem of a book. It offers succinct, practical help on dozens of issue areas for parents of toddlers, including temper tantrums, spanking, clinginess, and thumb-sucking. I highly recommend it!
~ Janet McHenry
. . . a confidence-building wealth of friendly advice, tips, and reassurance for parents of kids from birth to age five. This book is an important addition to any new parent's library. We are happy to recommend this as a resource for children's pastors and workers.

Brenda,
Is the lady in the picture with you named "Thelma"? If it is, I was just thinking about her the other day. She was on a womans teleconference some years ago, and always wore a 'Bumble Bee' pin. What was the occasion that you saw her?

I'm excited -- my editor at Moody Publishers gave me permission to post the first few pages of my upcoming novel, The Latter-day Cipher, on my blog on ShoutLIfe. It's a literary suspense in which clues to a mystery are written in Brigham Young's Deseret Alphabet -- and I've posted one of the clues, written in the code, on my blog!
I'm anxious to get your reaction. Blessings to you,
Latayne

I was amazed that I was able to get both of the boys to put their hand on the paper without ending up with a smudgy mess! Thanks for your comment.
The adoptive family told me they do not believe in praying when I told them the boys want to before meals and before bed. I'm hoping that the verses might be a seed that someone in their regular life will water.
