I love to write, listen to music, play in the yard and attempt to landscape, but above all spend time with Jesus--He's my best friend.

God is not going to exempt His children from life's difficulty. Rather, He highlights those very challenges to prove our faith is genuine--Beth Moore

I'm a madly in love with God, Christ follower. A writer, happily married, mom of a teenage son, and a daughter of a minister. I have moved thirty-three times in ten states, worked in banking, technology, and major computer corporations traveling the country as a systems analyst.
I'm not a perfect wife, perfect mother, or perfect at anything. I keep a fairly clean house, cook semi-decent meals, and love to write. I'm a real life woman with real life problems. I have made stupid mistakes, sinful mistakes, and often traveled down the wrong roads. God never gave up on me, He never let go, and welcomed me home when I stumbled back seeking His grace.
Thanks to years of undiagnosed Lyme disease, my medical journey could be used by several medical television shows--House, ER, Grey's Anatomy, you missed your chance. I've been poked, prodded, and diagnosed with... labyrinthitis, rheumatoid arthritis, swollen jugular vein, autoimmune inner ear disease, kidney infections, kidney stones, hearing problems, constant use of steroids to try and stop the unending dizziness, tumors, cysts, numbness, headaches, bleeding problems, eye problems, nerve damage, and the list goes on and on. Numerous surgeries, scans, blood tests, nerve tests... any kind of test, I've probably had it done. I was officially diagnosed in January 2006. Since then, I continue on antibiotics and/or supplements.
This wasn't my first journey through difficulties--there have been many. I serve an awesome God who has helped me through molestation by a baby-sitter, assault, rape, divorce, cancer, death, six surgeries, and illness.
There has been nothing enjoyable about suffering and pain but I wouldn't change it for the world, because through it all I have grown closer to the God who created, formed, and loved me before I was born. God's word tells us, "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze" (Isaiah 43:2 NIV). And you, my dear friend, also have a God who is with you, and who loves you with a love that never fails.

I am soooo excited and honored! I've received permission from John and Stasi Eldredge to share the following devotion based on their wonderful book, Captivating.
This devotion touched me deeply.

Ever wonder about the negative and/or traumatic things that happened during your life? What if we could go back and fix what went wrong?
Loved ones wouldn't die.
Illness wouldn't exist.
Evil couldn't attack.
Mistakes would be undone.

Ever have times when worry looms like a huge obstacle?
I've been working on my focus and my view of God. According to NASA, "Scientists estimate that there are more than 100 billion galaxies scattered throughout the visible universe. The Milky Way...

I've been lax in blogging this week. Errands, doctor visits, a torn arm muscle, and general life kept me occupied. To be honest, that wasn't the only reason--I've been sad about the house not selling. Today is the eighth month of the listing.

Closing for our Texas house was originally scheduled for November 9th. I'll admit I'm bummed. We left Texas almost eight months ago with three weeks worth of clothes, our sweet dog, and two laptops. I never would have thought our beautiful, amazingly...

Hi Lisa,
It doesn't matter whether you're Baptist, Methodist, Pentecostal, Conservative, or Liturgical you need to be aware of what God is doing in these days through the Messianic movement. The more we understand the roots of our faith in Judaism, the more we can understand what God wants us to know to make that faith grow.
It doesn't matter whether you like rock, country, contemporary, gospel, or hip hop, you need to grow in your musical tastes, and sample the rich tapestry of Messianic Jewish music that is available today. To that end, I would like to introduce you to two amazing Messianic artists, whose musical style is very unique, and totally wonderful.
Deborah Kline-Iantorno's music springs from her Jewish and Puerto Rican roots, and her years as a night club singer. Her songs are exciting, her voice is gorgeous, and the message she brings is right on.
Straight from Jerusalem, Israel, the songs of Rivka Whitten are alive and fresh. Her music is a unique mix of Yemenite Israeli vocals along with rhythms from around the world, and a gifted group of instrumentalists.
Please come on by, and check out a couple of amazing songs that I have put on my page, then you can go to www.newfaithfavorites.com and listen to all of them.
Thanks,
Jim
