Singing Winds (2007)
"Singing Winds" is a Christian Historical Romance set in the Sierra Nevada Mountains in late 1800's.
Synopsis:
Katy Breyer lives with her father in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Her young life is happy and secure until her estranged mother takes custody of her and moves her to a city hundreds of miles away. For the next five years she endures the neglect of her mother and the indifference of her stepfather. Her only happiness is found in the care and friendship she receives from the servants who work in her stepfather's mansion. After a tragic accident claims the life of her mother and stepfather, she is reunited with her uncle who takes her to live with his family in the mountains. Katy finally has the home and family she longs for but the unexpected friendship of a Maidu Indian boy tests her faith in God and forces her to make a decision that will change her life forever.

About Linda Strawn
I was born and raised in Sonoma County, California - the oldest of seven children. For as long as I can remember, I've had a casual interest in writing. I must have penned dozens of short stories in my lifetime, but I didn't take my writing seriously. I finally realized God gave me a gift when I took a story I had written in a notebook, transferred it onto the computer, and got the courage to have a friend read it. She actually loved it and encouraged me to get it published. So, here I am, a newly published author. "Singing Winds" was officially released July, 2007. My, that was more than a year ago. I am currently working on a contemporary fiction and hope to have it published sometime next year. Of course, God is in charge so I'm leaving it in His hands.
Other than writing, I enjoy gardening, scrapbooking, and photography (among other things). I currently live in Shasta County with my husband of 25 years and 10 year old daughter. We live way out in the boonies on ten acres with three dogs, two cats, and lots of wild critters.
I work at the local school here in town. It has around 40 students, kindergarten through eight grade. Small town - small school.

Going to the powwow   10/15/2008 - 11:19 PM
"Let's leave early enough to make the grand entry at noon," I told my husband a week before the event. Well, it didn't work out this way. My daughter, Michelle, didn't get up until almost noon. At ten years old, she loves her sleep as much as she did... (login or sign up to read more)

I was invited to exchange links with someone recently. This is something I don't treat lightly, so my normal standard of procedure is to visit the other person's website and evaluate it's content. Although this individual put a lot of effort into his... (login or sign up to read more)

In my corner of the world: "The Diner"   9/12/2007 - 12:21 PM
I thought it would be fun to talk about the little town that I call home. Tucked way back in a valley, in the shadow of Mt. Lassen, rests the tiny town of Manton. Once a booming logging town, it is now a quiet little burg that isn't even on the way... (login or sign up to read more)
