Liesl Graham's second album has finally seen her spread her wings beyond her own introspection and embrace the limelight shining on her. The release of "Chrysalis" has yanked Liesl from her 'adult contemporary' status and thrown her firmly into the pit of South Africa's rock fraternity.
Filled with 'songs of substance', Chrysalis celebrates Liesl's rebirth in the South African music scene after spending several years writing, learning, experiencing. It's literally named after Liesl's very own 'incubation' period, which saw her musical comeback stronger and more focused than ever before.
Chrysalis is Liesl's follow-up to the Gallo release Something To Believe.
Despite more major label interest this time around, Liesl decided to release through her own label, Loneroc Records, rather than be at the mercy of another record company.
Although Something To Believe was nominated for a SAMA award and spawned two massive radio hits, the appeal of being independent won her over and Liesl chose to do things completely her way - a plan that seems to be working extremely well for her,
The first single from Chrysalis, 'Faithless Heart', has been playlisted across the country, resulting in a Number 1 slot on 94.7 Highveld and elevating her to household name status almost instantly. Liesl has been building on her success with a number of top performances at some of the best venues around the country, building up fan-bases wherever she goes. With an edgy video to boot, her name has been on the lips of media, paving the way for her second single Hold Me, already creeping up charts countrywide.
