The greatest influence in my life has been Jesus Christ, and I am thankful to Him for saving my soul. I am especially thankful that he brought me through a particularly painful childhood, gave me a survivor's will, and later gave me the will & courage to write and publish a book to help others. I spent 35 years (off and on)writing it, due to the fact the abuse left me in a very co-dependent state. I always thought I had to "fix" everyone, so consequently I did not make wise relationship choices, and went from one relationship to another. When I finally was healed enough to think better about myself, I made a wise choice this time, and married a man who did NOT have to be fixed. He has encouraged me to finish the book, for my own healing, and to help others heal. So he has also been a great influence on my life. I am so thankful to God for bringing us together.

One might think that my book is similar to others, because there are other books out there about sexual child abuse. However, when I first started writing it in my early 20s, there were not many Christian books about it; especially those that testified to the fact that it was Jesus who got them through their experience. My book is a living testimony to God's protection, guidance & healing touch. It has been referred to as "a roadmap to reclaiming your life and living that life to the fullest"....VICTORIOUSLY...PTL! Therefore, I recommend the reading of this book to anyone who has suffered sexual child abuse. Don't waste a minute longer feeling sorry for yourself or dwelling on the negative influences on your life! Ask yourself, "Just how long am I going to let this THING cripple me and rob me of what God wants for my life?" Then make a conscious decision to put it behind you and move on...You CAN do it!

General Interests
General Interests: I have so many it's hard to know where to start. Overall I would say that I am an outdoorsy type who loves to walk in the woods, camp, swim, boat, ride ATVs, horseback ride, and generally enjoy God's creation...this beautiful earth. I enjoy spending time with my family, although most of my kids & grandkids live so far away I can't see them as often as I'd like. I also love to create things by sewing, writing, crocheting afgans for my grandkids; love to see things take shape. I love spending time with my wonderful husband who I met 8 years ago in our sunset years; we have been married 6 wonderful years. We have enjoyed traveling together and have seen most of the US and Canada, Alaska, and took cruises to Mexico and the Caribbean with our friends. Life is an adventure & God has been good to us.
Father, Forgive My Father (2005)
Christian Self Help Book to help victims of sexual child abuse recover and reclaim their lives. Only through forgiveness and God's help can this be done. This book was written over a period of 35 years, but was born in the author's heart and mind at age 12 when God gave her the title and a poem entitled "Father, Forgive My Father". Finally at age 62 she completed what she feels is her greatest life's work, aside from her two children she brought into the world. Her hope is that it will reach many victims with the message that God can heal you and turn your scars into stars. This informative book not only tells the author's poignant story, but is a roadmap to recovery and living a healed, victorious life. Forgiveness is the KEY; the only people who are truly free are the ones who walk in continual forgiveness. Jesus even said, "If you won't forgive your fellow man, I will not forgive you."
So read and learn how this author was able to forgive, and consequently let God free her from a bondage that is worse than death. Please pass this word on to your friends & family; they might know someone, too, who needs God's healing touch. To read current reviews on this book, go on line to www.authorhouse.com. This book is also available at www.barnesandnoble.com and www.amazon.com.
I'm a retired lady who is happily married to my wonderful husband, Forrest. We have been married for a almost 7 years now, and share a wonderfully active life together. Between the two of us we have 4 kids, 14 grandchildren, and 2 great grandsons & another great grandson on the way. Most of our kids live too far away for our liking...but such is life! Our daughter and her family live a few hours away from us during the summer months at the ranch, but don't see them often either.
Well...we tried the "horsey" scene again, and realized that we are getting too old for situations where you have to control 2 brains at the same time. So, after my accident on my horse last summer & getting a bad concussion, we sold both of our mares to really wonderful homes. They are both a lot happier with the people they were meant to be with. We miss them terribly, but our prayers were answered.
So, now we going to join friends who have ATVs; then we can go on ATV camping trips. We have always had older ATVs at our ranch, so we're used to riding them...and there is only one brain to control. So we recycled our entertainment fund and got 2 new Honda Rancher 420 ATVs, sold the horse trailer and remodeled an old flat bed trailer that just holds our ATVs and bicycles. We downsized from our 5th wheel to a camper to put on the truck, and now we're ready to go. Our first trip will be this month down in central Oregon camping with our friends.
I keep busy with my writing and following the publishing of my first book in 2005 (read my blog about that) I am writing articles now for magazines...more horse articles for older retired people to learn from our experiences, and articles to Christian magazines to promote my book. I also enjoy making crocheted afghans for my grandchildren, and have finished by 6th one. The past 2 years we've been blessed with 3 more adopted grandchildren and 2 GREAT grandsons, so I suppose I will be trying to make ones for them, too, if my fingers hold out long enough.
I'm in the process of learning that even if loved ones disappoint you, life is good, and God has provided. Last summer he provided a pretty little black Tuxedo kitty who ended up having kittens in a lair at our ranch. So we went through a very patient taming process and ended up bringing them all home from the ranch for the winter. What a wonderful diversion & delight they have been. We found a home for 2 of the kitties to stay together, and kept Mama Mitsy & her little boy "Owey"; at a year old now he's bigger than she is (topping the scale at 19 lbs.). Talk about FAT cats!! Then this summer we managed to find the Daddy cat, Tommy; neutered him and tamed him, and he will also come home with us this winter. Watch for more pictures when I post "Kitty Family" pics. Hope you all are having a wonderful, funfilled summer.
Just wanted to remind you all that still working on getting my book out there where it can do some good. On October 5th of 2006 I celebrated one year of circulation....Praise God! It is entitled, "Father, Forgive My Father", and is the story of and the testimony to God's healing power in my life. It was published and is being circulated by Author House, Inc., and can be found on the following websites: www.authorhouse.com, www.barnesandnoble.com, www.amazon.com, and www.bordersbooks.com. During the 35+ years it took for me to write the book (some of us are just slow) I wrote it with the idea that if it helped just one person, it would be worth all the trials, pain and suffering from the ravages of 15 years of sexual abuse. However, I am encouraged to hear that it is helping many people already, and the reviews are calling it "a roadmap to recovery and living a victorious life". People say they relate to it on many levels; and one lady told me "It changed my life, and I was able to forgive my mother after many years of us not even speaking." Please help me get it out there so it can continue to reach and help the many, many hurting victims and others who need God's healing touch on one level or another. I will appreciate your help and consider you a partner with me in the work I know God has destined for me. God Bless.

Prayer Request for Shrinking a Brain Tumor

It is very hard for me to write this, I don't really want to, but my husband has asked me to send out a prayer request for us. Seems it is much easier for me to pray for others than it is to ask for prayer.
Sunday afternoon I received a call from...

The weather here can get down to 0, but that is rare. Low 40's tomorrow though. Today Andy took the cyclone rake out and did all the leaves, however tomorrow there will be more! I have taken all my things in several weeks ago so only have to look out for the animals...my babies!
Dear Sandra,
You are so brave. I have nothing but admiration for women who survived childhood abuse. The novel I am working on now is about a girl who has to get past her past of abuse before she can move foward. You cannot drive forward if you are looking in the rear view mirror. May God richly bless you and your ministry.
Love,
Janelle

Hi Sandra,
Your welcome for the comment on your blog; And thank you for your encouraging words. Amen,You are right about the giving up thing. It's such a wonderful thing to be able to live in Gods love and know that nothing can separate us from it, Isn't it? But people need to realize that unforgiveness prevents God from hearing our prayers. I hope your book is going well, it sounds like a great book! I'm sure you are a wonderful grandmother. Would you please check out my 10 min TV Interview video on my profile where i discuss my 1st book ,it's a supernatural, amazing story of how great our God is and would appreciate you helping to spread the word. It has and is helping many people, all glory be to God! I'm very excited because I just received a phone call a few days ago from a TV Show in Virginia Beach, VA and they approved my story and will be coming to my home soon and hiring an actress to play me as a little girl to do a reinactment, glory be to God! I'd appreciate your prayers.

JESUS IS THE LOIN OF JUDAH!
What does that mean to you? Are you following the Lion or listening to the roar of the enemy. Are you chasing the enemy, which is manifesting itself in your life, overpowering it and destroying its ability to destroy you? People who are living by the limitation of the flesh run from the enemy. But people of the spirit take control chase down the adversary and put a stop to his ability to harass and torment them. No matter how slippery the slope you may find yourself on, or the flamboyant manifestations and demonstrations of his weapons, your weapons are for greater. You may have only a mere stick of weakness in your flesh to fight the beast with. But you have the power of the Almighty in your spirit and His authority with which to fill your mouth and overpower the chief of destruction and all of his associates, whom Christ has already defeated. Furthermore, the victory is already yours, take your rightful place in Christ and by your God given authority enforce it. You will love it when you see the enemy fleeing from your very presence because He knows that you know who you are in Christ. And that he has no weapon to strike you with that can succeed against that. You are an offspring of the Lion of Judah let the world hear you roar for the glory of your King. See 2 Samuel 23:20-21.
Have a great and beautiful day!!! The Lamb of God has been slain the lion of Judah is on the throne. Hear Him roar and follow Him in all of His ways.
Victory, love and joy to you, beloved of the Lord!
Sylvia

HUMILITY!
What is true humility? And why is it so important that we understand it?
To begin with we need to understand that the Greek word for humility is PRAUS, which means STRONG. Humility does not mean shy. Nor does it mean that we must wear clothing which is out of fashion to demonstrate our humbleness. If this was the case every humble man would be wearing a robe as Christ did. It has nothing to do with whether we shave or grow a beard, nor whether our hair is long or short. Lack of wearing makeup or going all natural does not add to our quest for humility. If the house in which you reside needs painting paint it. If new and better ways are discovered that benefit human life use them for the glory of God, who allowed them to be discovered. Instead of allowing satan to destroy us with them for his glory. Being bound by such things keeps us in bondage to the enemy not in a state of humility before our God.
Humility may best be explained as the difference between horses trained by their master for a specific purpose and their wild counterpart. The word PRAUS describes a mighty stallion. That has been trained for battle. This stallion has been broken from his wild impulsive nature and retrained in the ways of his master for a specific purpose. He retains the entire dynamic for which he was created. That is he still has the energy and, enthusiasm which is inherent in horses, which he has always had, but his sense of purpose has changed. And now he is able to get things done that fulfill the purpose of his master. The difference between a retrained horse and his wild counterpart is that its purpose in life has been brought under the control of His master. Just one slight touch of the rein and a ton of horseflesh submits its will to the will of its master. In this training process the horse's spirit is not broken, but his self-will has been giving up to the will of the master.
As we allow Christ to retrain us to think and act like Him we become bold and certain of our ability to defeat the enemy and accomplish the works that we have been called and chosen to do. Being shy and uncertain of this power active in us is not humility. It is disobedience. Humility enables us to boldly refuse to give in to circumstance and move always according to the word of God and achieve His promised results. Peter and John did this in Acts 3:1-11. Peter in affect was saying I have been broken from the ways of man and retrained in the ways of God. And what I have been trained to do is to give to others (you) the benefits that God has in Christ given me and trained me to give to others in His name. Humility is pure and simple bold obedience to the Master's desires.
Thank you for your kind words and comment on my blog! In reading your profile, you too have experienced the valleys and mountaintop experiences in this life and praise God for Who He is in spite -- what a blessing and inspiration you are!
