About Kings Creek Union Chapel
...AND A LITTLE CHILD SHALL LEAD THEM. (ISAIAH 11:6). "Why can't we have a Sunday School here in our neighborhood?" asked young Betty of her mother. These words reminded Mrs. Arrington of a dream she had carried from her own childhood. She had always wanted to be a missionary to a foreign land, but the door was never opened to her. Now she realized she could serve God in a different but special way. She would start a Sunday School for the local community.

First she enlisted the aid of her friend Margaret Logan. Together they announced their intentions to the neighbors. On August 17, 1941, they held their first Sunday School at an outdoor pavilion owned by a local businessman. There were thirty people in attendance and they had three classes that day.

Kings Creek Union Chapel was organized as a church on March 16, 1947. Tentative plans were made for the church building June 17, 1947. The grounds were donated and the basement was completed January of 1949. The membership roster was started in October of 1949. The charter members were Mrs. Beulah Arrington, Mrs. Elsie Call, Mrs. Nell Gaston, Mrs.Alma Abregg, Mrs, Miriam Stoneking and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Chipps. The upper floor of the building was completed in 1955. The congregation grew and a new wing was added in 1960.
