About Joey Tafolla
Joey Tafolla's Official Website!

Joey Tafolla performed as the lead guitarist for power metal band JAG PANZER recording the bands first full length album "Ample Destruction". The re-unification of the band in 1997 brought Joey back to the band to feature his aggressive style for the recording of the Fourth Judgment.

"OPEN HOUSE" BY JOEY TAFOLLA

Joey started a solo career on Mike Varney's Shrapnel Records label in the 1980s, and emerged alongside other "shred" players.

He became part of the neoclassical stream with his first studio album "Out Of The Sun", released in 1987, featuring Tony MacAlpine on keyboards and Paul Gilbert on guitars. Joey immediately demonstrated to be technically prepared and at the same time showed a lot of personality. Soon he got some collaboration to rock projects and guitar compilations on the shredding scene.

After four years from his first release, in 1991 he totally changed genre with his new studio album "Infra-Blue", an almost rock-fusion work by a new and completely different Joey, rich of shuffle ideas on his riffs and characterized by great shred licks mainly during legato sections. With this record Joey asserted himself enough to start clinics and seminaries all over the world, releasing a didactic tape for REH video, and starting to teach.

JOEY TAFOLLA PLAYS A PIECE OF "WRECKING BALL":

Joey Tafolla released "Plastic", collaborates his talents with the rhythm section of drummer Tal Bergman, Fusion Bassist Oskar Cartaya and synthesizer soloist Billy Batte. The CD features a live horn trio, heavy funk based rhythm sections. "Plastic" proves that Joey Tafolla is continually trying to re-invent himself.

Joey Tafolla has also performed as session guitarist for MCA recording artist Tyrese on his current release "2000 Watts" and for Dream Works artists VP215 on their debut CD released on September 2001. Joey has also appeared on the solo CD of drummer Jonathan Mover, Jens Johannsen, Derek Sherinian and Al Pitrelli.

Joey Taffola has also worked with Michael Sweet, Johnny Gioeli and the group Hardline.

Joey was an instructor at the Guitar Institute of Technology (G.I.T.) and a columnist for Guitar School Magazine.
