Joel Brovont isn't just another Christian artist, but a poet who sings. Writing since a child, Joel has perfected the art of communication, allowing him to reach people right where they are. Sharing stories from his life and insights from Scripture through his music, message and quick, witty humor, Joel's desire is to bring people into a better understanding of whom Christ is and His forgiving grace.
"I always thought I was a believer," says Brovont, "I was told that if I prayed a prayer, somehow the magic power of Jesus covered me and I was good to go on with MY life. But that prayer didn't change the fact that I still thought it was MY life. I read the parts of the Bible that convicted me on aspects of myself that I was comfortable changing. There was no accountability from anyone, not even my 'Christian' friends."
"My wife Cara and I had been friends since childhood. When her husband Derek died in a farming accident, something changed inside of me-something that said the truth of God's word could be a pretty dangerous thing to skirt around if you're only going to live to be 24. As Cara and I talked more and more, He used her to challenge me to evaluate why I do what I do. It was at this point a real transformation started taking place, and I recommitted myself to Jesus Christ, striving to serve Him in all things and be an encouragement and a witness to His true life changing power in the lives of people who put their trust in Him."
With his debut CD project called It's About You, Joel has already seen God's workings through his music. 'Forgiven', the first song on It's About You, was selected for a CD compilation called Unified by Grace produced by Quickstar Productions. Proceeds from the CD will go towards purchasing anti-malarial medicine for people in Uganda. He also had the opportunity to take part in "The Breathe Tour" and a 2008 GMA showcase in Nashville, Tennessee.
Whether Joel Brovont is opening for artists such as Mark Shultz or 33 Miles, leading worship or performing in churches throughout the country, one thing is pretty clear; his desire to reach lives for Christ and his passion to use his music to do so.
This year, if you are a church, a Christian event planner or a men's group leader, bring in an artist who can not only sing, but can effectively communicate God's message. We believe that Joel Brovont is the artist to do just that and we're sure you will too!
